At Chetana’s Institute of Management & Research, we were delighted to host our esteemed alumnus,Mr. Alexander Valladares (fondly known as Alex), for a powerful and insightful session on “Careers in Marketing” for our first-year PGDM students.
Currently Director – Marketing, StudioX & AOPS Lead at The Coca-Cola Company, Alex brought with him over 17 years of diverse global experience—spanning advertising, media, entertainment, corporate marketing, and entrepreneurship.
From working on marquee brands such as MTV, Times of India, Tata Motors, and global campaigns for Coca-Cola (including IPL and FIFA initiatives) to building his own marketing agency of 130 professionals—Alex’s journey exemplifies reinvention, courage, and continuous learning.
Key Insights Shared with Our Students
Alex left our young marketers with thought-provoking lessons drawn from real-world challenges and successes:
🔥 “Comfort is your enemy” — Growth happens when you step beyond the familiar.
🔥 “Where there is no difference, there is indifference” — Even small distinctions create meaningful impact.
🔥 “Life is not a race, but move fast” — Stay agile, stay curious.
🔥 Collaboration > Competition — Because people at the top build together.
🔥 Stay surprisingly well-informed — Knowledge builds influence, confidence, and clarity.
🔥 Don’t tolerate mediocrity — In ideas, ex*****on, or thinking.
🔥 Travel, explore, experiment — Creativity comes from new experiences.
He also emphasized the importance of discipline, risk-taking, and responsible decision-making, reminding students that marketers are cost heads, and every choice carries consequences.
A Truly Inspiring Session
Alex’s candid storytelling, humility, and actionable wisdom made the session deeply impactful. Our students walked away with renewed clarity about the marketing landscape—and the mindset, skills, and consistency required to thrive in it.
A heartfelt thank you to Alex for returning to his alma mater and lighting another candle.
As he beautifully put it: “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”
We look forward to many more such enriching engagements for our budding marketers!
