The NSS Unit of Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic, SNDT Women’s University, Juhu Campus, in collaboration with ConnectFor, organised a Seed Ball Making Workshop on 25 August 2026 as an environmental awareness and sustainability initiative.
The activity was conducted under the theme “Eco Bombs Away: Seed Ball Making”, with the objective of creating awareness among students about sustainable practices, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of increasing green cover. The activity also encouraged students to participate actively in an environmentally responsible initiative.
During the workshop, student volunteers prepared seed balls using a mixture of red soil, compost, and vegetable/native seeds. Seeds such as tomato, brinjal, coriander, and other native varieties were incorporated into the seed balls. The required materials for the activity were provided by ConnectFor, while the NSS Unit facilitated student participation and the necessary arrangements at the campus.
The workshop provided students with a practical understanding of how seed balls can be prepared and subsequently used to support plant growth in suitable environments. The hands-on activity also promoted teamwork, creativity, environmental responsibility, and community participation among the NSS volunteers.
The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students from different departments. The flexible participation model enabled students to join the live activity according to their availability and contribute to the preparation of seed balls.
Attendance of participating volunteers was recorded by ConnectFor, and eligible participants will be provided with e-certificates in recognition of their contribution.
The Seed Ball Making Workshop was successfully conducted and served as a meaningful environmental initiative. It helped students understand the importance of sustainable actions and motivated them to contribute towards biodiversity conservation, greener surroundings, and environmental sustainability.
The activity successfully combined environmental education with hands-on learning. The NSS Unit, Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic, SNDT Women’s University, appreciates the support and collaboration of ConnectFor in facilitating this meaningful environmental initiative.
