Tata Institute of Social Sciences – School of Vocational Education (TISS-SVE) has opened a Centre for Banking, Financial Services and Insurance vertical in Muzaffarpur. Gyan Shree Foundation Trust is the Training Hub Partner. TISS, a Deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956, is one of the best educational institutions in the country. It was established
in 1936, and was declared a Deemed University in 1964. TISS set up a School of Vocational Education in December 2011 under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and proposed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India. The initiative is aimed to provide immediate and definite interventions to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and marginalised youth, especially who are excluded by the formal school education system, through appropriate vocational training programmes. It has been set up with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour and create sustainable sources of income. At the Muzaffarpur centre, TISS provides a wide range of job-oriented courses and trainings in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance. The courses include Post Graduate Diplomas, Bachelor of Vocational Education (B.Voc.) and short-term Certificate courses.
