A puzzle is never complete without its missing piece—just like memories waiting to be revisited!

Greetings from the NIE IEEE Student Branch!

Like pieces scattered across a puzzle, memories often seem incomplete on their own, but when brought together, they create something unforgettable. We proudly present the 12th edition of our half-yearly newsletter, MANAS, an edition that celebrates our memories, milestones, and countless moments of learning, growth, and camaraderie that have shaped our journey across the worthwhile workshops, fabulous fests, and various visits, which all become essential pieces that complete us.

The puzzle still remains incomplete, as the final pieces are yet to be gathered. Just as MANAS reaches its closing page, The Mosaic Chase begins, scattering fragments of a hidden mystery across paths yet to be explored. With every piece uncovered, the picture will grow clearer…

When the last fragment finally falls into place, what story will the mosaic reveal?

The NIE IEEE Student Branch – Computer Society, with support from the IEEE Bangalore Section CS Chapter, successfully conducted The Hitchhiker’s Guide to MLOps — a two-day workshop and hackathon focused on modern AI engineering, MLOps, and production-ready AI systems.

Day 1 featured an intensive hands-on workshop led by Mr. Pradyoth Prashanth, Security Engineer II, JP Morgan Chase where participants explored the foundations of modern AI systems, including neural networks, transformers, LLMs, AI system architecture, and the evolution from traditional MLOps to modern AI engineering. The sessions further covered reproducibility, Docker, cloud infrastructure, deployment workflows, observability, AI security, and CI/CD automation.

Participants also built and deployed an AI Resume Analyzer & Career Assistant, gaining practical exposure to FastAPI backend development, Gemini API integration, orchestration pipelines, Dockerization, cloud deployment, logging, monitoring, and end-to-end AI system deployment workflows.

Day 2 concluded with an exciting hackathon featuring 14 teams from various colleges across Mysore, where participants applied their learnings to build innovative AI-driven solutions. The hackathon presentations were evaluated by Dr. Anita Raghavendra, Professor of Practice, Dept. Of CSE and Associate Professor. Rampur Srinath, Dept. of ISE who served as the judging panel for the event.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation throughout and provided students with valuable exposure to real-world MLOps practices, collaborative engineering workflows, and the rapidly evolving landscape of modern AI systems.

From 11th to 14th May 2026, the NISB- Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, NIE, embarked on an enriching technical visit, sponsored by GRSS Industry Collab 2025, to the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) and the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

At the VSSC Space Museum, a place deeply rooted in India’s space history and once functioning as a church during the early days of ISRO, attendees explored the inspiring journey of the Indian space programme. From scaled models of launch vehicles like PSLV and GSLV to learning about payload systems, propulsion, and landmark missions including Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, Aditya-L1 and the upcoming Gaganyaan mission, the experience offered a fascinating glimpse into the science and vision driving India’s achievements in space exploration.

The visit to IIST provided an equally engaging academic exposure, where attendees got an opportunity to interact with faculty members from the Remote Sensing Department, explore advanced laboratories, and witness satellite related research and applications up close. A highlight of the visit was the interactive session with Prof. Dipankar Banerjee, Vice Chancellor of IIST and a scientist closely associated with the Aditya-L1 mission. The opportunity to directly engage in discussions and ask questions made the experience especially memorable and inspiring for everyone present.

Every such experience reminds us that learning extends far beyond classrooms. Exploring institutions that contribute directly to India’s advancements in science and technology not only deepens curiosity, but also inspires the next generation of engineers, researchers and innovators.

Human beings are almost unique in their ability to learn from others’ mistakes. Machine learning pipelines, unfortunately, are not.

Greetings from the NIE IEEE Student Branch – Computer Society!

In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42… but unfortunately, there’s no universal answer for broken pipelines, failed deployments, and “works-on-my-machine” disasters... that is until now.

THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO MLOps is a two-day workshop and hackathon designed to help you navigate the chaotic galaxy of production machine learning. So grab your towel, prepare your repositories, and above all— don't panic.

📍Checkpoint 1: The Hyperdrive MLOps Workshop
Travel through the MLOps lifecycle with DVC, MLFlow, Dagshub, GitHub Actions, and cloud deployment as you learn how real-world ML systems survive beyond notebooks and local machines.

Event Details:
Date: 16th May 2026
Time: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Venue: RK Hall, Admin Block, NIE South Campus

📍Checkpoint 2: The Galactic Pipelines Hackathon
Build and present your end-to-end pipelines before the judging panel, where your systems will be tested on automation, deployment, model performance, innovation, and engineering clarity!

Event Details:
Team Size: 3-4
Date: 17th May 2026
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Venue: Sir MV Hall, GJB, NIE South Campus

ILLUME ‘26 brought circuits, systems, and signals beyond theory and into experience. Across four days, the annual CASS fest of NISB became a space for building, experimenting, and understanding electronics in action.

Day 1 began with the Inauguration, followed by BuzzCraft: Logic Edition, where participants translated logic into working circuits through hands-on exploration.

Day 2 moved into MATLAB Quest: From Signal to System, turning equations and signals into something visual, interactive, and intuitive.

Day 3 featured Cascade Sprint, where individual components came together as complete signal paths, highlighting how every stage shapes the next.

Day 4 concluded with CrossCurrent & Valedictory, bringing together clues, patterns, and problem-solving into a final challenge that reflected the spirit of the fest itself.

From logic to systems, theory to application, ILLUME ‘26 was a celebration of curiosity, innovation, and learning through creation — where every signal carried an idea, every connection sparked understanding, and every participant became part of something greater than the circuit itself!

Named after Alessandro Volta, potential is what drives everything forward; without it, nothing moves!

Most circuits behave perfectly on paper; Signals stay clean, stages don’t interfere, everything looks predictable… until you actually build them. That’s when buffers matter, gain isn’t ideal, and every stage starts affecting the next.

Cascade Sprint is where circuits stop being isolated blocks and start acting like a system. You’ll build your way through a buffer, amplifier, filter, and comparator…then chain them together into a full signal path, where output isn’t final—it becomes the next input!

When Joseph Fourier looked at a messy signal, he didn’t see noise, he saw structures waiting to be uncovered!

Greetings from the NIE IEEE Student Branch-CASS!

We all hate math… until it stops being numbers on paper and starts doing something real. Signals begin to form, patterns emerge, and suddenly what once felt abstract becomes something you can see, tweak, and understand.

Step into MATLAB Quest: From Signal to System—where equations finally do something.

Tune your signal, because noise is inevitable, but clarity is engineered!

Circuits have been open for a while… but you know what that means?

All those plans we’ve been wiring, testing, and tweaking are finally ready to go live.

The wait is over.
The signal is finally coming through.

And just like that… it’s back.

ILLUME returns. Here ideas connect, currents flow and turn into something real.

4th to 7th May, NIE South Campus.

Stay tuned for more updates!
