JSS College of Nursing, JSS Hospital and JSS School of Nursing. Mysuru, under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) & SNA, organized the “International Nurses Day and Nasha Muktha Mysuru Marathon” on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at 6.00 a.m. from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Mysuru Palace premises.
The programme was conducted to commemorate International Nurses Day and to create awareness among the public & Youths about the importance of a drug-free society under the theme “Nasha Muktha Mysuru.” The event highlighted the invaluable contribution of nurses to society and promoted healthy living through public participation in the marathon.
Sri Mallikarjun Baladandi, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Mysuru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of youth participation in social awareness movements against substance abuse. During the inaugural address, the chief guest emphasized the growing concern of drug addiction among youth and appreciated the efforts of JSS College of Nursing and NSS & SNA Unit in creating awareness through such social initiatives.
Dr. Brinda Suhas Godhi, Associate Professor, JSS Dental College & Hospital and an avid cyclist, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour and encouraged participants to adopt fitness-oriented lifestyles.
Students, faculty members, nursing professionals, NSS volunteers, and members of the public enthusiastically participated in the marathon and awareness activities.
The organizers reiterated the message, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”
The event concluded successfully with active participation and public support, reinforcing the commitment towards healthcare awareness and a drug-free Mysuru.
