The Department of Nursing Foundation, Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, organized a Sketch Competition on the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day on 15th May 2026 at the ACN Auditorium. The event aimed to create awareness among nursing students about the importance of hand hygiene in preventing infections and saving lives.
The theme of the competition was “Action Saves Lives”, emphasizing the significance of proper hand hygiene practices in healthcare settings and daily life.
The theme of the competition, ‘Action Saves Lives,’ highlighted the importance of practicing proper hand hygiene in daily life and healthcare settings. The event provided an opportunity for nursing students to spread awareness through meaningful sketches related to cleanliness, infection prevention, and patient safety.
The competition received enthusiastic participation from students, who showcased innovative ideas and creative talents. The programme successfully promoted awareness regarding hand hygiene and motivated students to contribute towards building a healthier society.”

*Report on Educational Visit to Kabini water plant* The Department of Community Health Nursing organized a one-day educational visit to Kabini water supply and treatment plant, Bidharagudu, Mysuru for VIIth semester B.Sc nursing students on 13th May 2026 at 12 pm. During the visit, Mr. Girish, Supervisor of the water plant, explained in detail about the history of the organization, the purpose of its establishment, and the methods of water purification processes. The session was made interactive, and students clarified their doubts regarding various stages of water purification.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Kantaraju S, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing and Ms. Sneha, Nursing Tutor, Mr. Kiran Kumar, M.Sc nursing student. Around 90 students benefited from this educational trip as part of their academic requirement, which enhanced their understanding of public health and safe water supply.

2. To gain knowledge about the history and functioning of the Kabini Water Plant.
3. To study the methods and processes involved in water purification.

The Department of Child Health Nursing, Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing in association with Department of Paediatric AH & RC, B.G Nagara, organized a “Workshop on Resuscitation skill for every lifesaver” on the occasion of National Resuscitation Program (NRP) 2026 on 13-05-2026 at 11:00 AM in the Central Simulation lab, ACU.

The programme is aimed that National Resuscitation Programme (NRP) usually refers to training programs that teach healthcare workers how to revive newborn babies or patients whose breathing or heartbeat has stopped.

The session was conducted at central simulation lab conducted by Dr. Nandha Kumar, Dr. Shree Raksha & team. During the session brief introduction was given about NRP, algorithm followed in NRP, Equipment’s used in NRP & explained regarding the steps of NRP, about TABC (T-Temperature, A-Airway, B-Breathing, C-Compression) each step explained in detail along with the demonstration was done. MRSOPA is a mnemonic used in neonatal resuscitation to correct problems during ventilation when a newborn is not breathing properly. Further, scenario based re-demonstration taken from the students.

Report on Educational Visit to Milk Dairy

The Department of Community Health Nursing organized a one-day educational visit to Milk Dairy, Hassan, for VII Semester B.Sc. Nursing students on 12 May 2026 at 11:00 PM. During the visit, Mr. Manoj, Supervisor, along with his team members, explained in detail about the history of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the purpose of its establishment, and the functioning of the milk processing unit. Students were oriented to the milk collection process, processing methods, quality control measures, supply and distribution system, marketing strategies, and various milk products manufactured at the dairy.
The visit was interactive, and students actively clarified their doubts regarding the different stages involved in milk processing and dairy management. This educational exposure helped students understand the importance of food hygiene, nutrition, and quality control in relation to public health.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Kantaraju S., Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, and Ms. Sneha A N, Nursing Tutor, along with M.Sc. Nursing students. Around 90 students benefited from this educational visit as part of their academic requirement, which enhanced their understanding of food safety, nutrition, milk hygiene, and the role of dairy products in community health and balanced diet.

The Department of OBG Nursing, ACN, B G Nagara organized the International Day of the Midwife – 2026 on 5th May 2026 at 10:30 AM, with the theme “One Million More Midwives.”
The programme was hosted by Ms. Aleena (7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing). Ms. Delna welcomed the gathering. Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, explained the significance of the day. The guest speaker, Prof. Tintumol Mathew, HOD of OBG Nursing,Rajeev College of Nursing, Hassan spoke on the history, importance, and role of midwives in maternal and child health. Mrs. Kavitha N.K., HOD of OBG Nursing, along with faculty members, witnessed the programme.
A total of 99 sixth-semester B.Sc. Nursing students attended. The guest speaker was honored, and faculty were acknowledged for their support. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Delna.

The department of OBG Nursing, Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, B.G. Nagara organized poster presentation competition on the occasion of National Safe Motherhood Day with the theme “Equity in Maternal Healthcare: Leaving No Mother Behind” on 11-04- 2026 at 10.00 am.
The program was held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and around 10 students participated in the competition. The judges for the event were Dr. Shobha KR and Prof Arathi TV from ACN, B G Nagara. They evaluated the presentations and finalized the winners. The faculty from the Department of OBG Nursing were also present and witnessed the event.
The prizes were awarded by Dr. Shobha KR, HOD, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, who presented a certificate for all the participants.

Promote availability of quality maternal healthcare services for all women, regardless of socioeconomic status, location, or background.
• Strengthen healthcare systems to prevent avoidable maternal deaths and complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period
• Encourage early registration, regular antenatal check-ups, and proper postnatal follow-up for every mother.
• Educate women, families, and communities about maternal health rights, nutrition, hygiene, and danger signs during pregnancy.

The Department of Community Health Nursing, in association with NSS Unit-5 of Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, organized a Poster Presentation Programme on the occasion of World Health Day 2026 on 07th April 2026 at the Health Centers of Kadabahalli and Bindinganavile under the global theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science.”
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, ACN.The programme was coordinated by Mr. P. G. N. Swamy, HOD – Department of Community Health Nursing, and Mr. Kantaraju S, NSS Programme Officer.
A total of 95 students and faculty members actively participated in the programme. The 7th semester B.Sc. Nursing students were divided into five groups, and each group prepared and displayed health education posters based on sub-themes related to preventive health, scientific awareness, nutrition, communicable disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle promotion. These posters were presented among OPD patients and community beneficiaries at the health centers to create awareness about the importance of scientific approaches in maintaining health and preventing disease.
The programme aimed to promote awareness regarding evidence-based health practices and encourage community participation in maintaining health through informed decision-making.

Objectives:
• To create awareness among community members regarding the importance of scientific approaches in health promotion and disease prevention.
• To educate OPD patients about healthy lifestyle practices and preventive health measures.
• To enhance students’ skills in community health education and communication.

Report of World Tuberculosis Day – 2026

Awareness Rally on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day – 2026

Theme: “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Countries, Powered by People.”

On 30th March 2026, World Tuberculosis Day was observed to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB), promote prevention and early diagnosis, and encourage community participation in eliminating TB. In regard this awareness Rally was conducted at Chakenahalli village.

World Tuberculosis Day is observed annually on 24th March to spread awareness about the global impact of tuberculosis and to strengthen efforts toward its prevention, treatment, and control.
The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing in association with NSS Unit No. 19 of Adichunchanagiri University organized an awareness rally to educate the public about TB prevention, symptoms, and the importance of timely treatment.

The program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, ACN. The Rally was proceeded with rearing flag by Dr. Shobha K R, HOD of Medical Surgical Nursing, ACN, in the presence of Mrs. Pavithra K, NSS Coordinator, teaching faculty members, and students.

All II GNM students and I & II Year MSc Nursing students actively participated in the awareness rally.

1. Awareness Rally
The rally began at 10:00 AM from Chakenahalli.
Students marched through the community spreading awareness about tuberculosis.
Participants carried placards, posters, and banners with messages on TB prevention, early detection, and treatment.
The rally covered the main streets of the village to create awareness among the public.
Community members along the route observed the rally and appreciated the awareness initiative.

2. Health Education Session
A brief awareness session was conducted by Nursing Faculty and NSS volunteers explaining:

- Causes and symptoms of tuberculosis
- Modes of transmission of TB
- Importance of early diagnosis and complete treatment
- Availability of free TB treatment through government health services
- Preventive measures such as covering mouth while coughing, maintaining hygiene, and completing the full course of medication

*To create awareness among the community regarding tuberculosis symptoms, prevention, and treatment.
*To encourage early diagnosis and timely treatment of TB.
*To educate the public about preventive measures to reduce the spread of TB.

The Department of Community Health Nursing, in association with NSS Unit-5 of Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, observed World Tuberculosis Day 2026 on 24th March 2026 at the Seminar Hall, ACN, under the global theme: “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Countries, Powered by People “The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. P. G. N. Swamy, HOD – Department of Community Health Nursing.
A seminar session was delivered by Mr. Kantaraju S, Asst, professor, dept. Community health nursing who highlighted the significance of World TB Day, TB incidence in India and globally, mode of transmission, strategies for TB elimination, strengthening service delivery systems, treatment regimens, multisectoral coordination, and community engagement strategies essential for TB elimination.
A total of 80 students and faculty members actively participated in the programme and gained valuable insights into tuberculosis prevention, control, and elimination strategies.

Objectives:
1. To create awareness among nursing students regarding the global burden of tuberculosis and its public health impact.
2. To enhance knowledge on mode of transmission, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment regimens of TB.
3. To emphasize the role of community participation and multisectoral coordination in TB elimination.
4. To sensitize future nurses about their responsibilities in achieving SDG Target 3.3 – Ending tuberculosis by 2030.
5. To promote leadership skills among students through participation in community-oriented health awareness activities.

The Department of Adult Health Nursing, Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, organized a Hands-On Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training Programme – 2026 on 23rd March 2026 at 9:30 AM in Lecture Hall–6, AIMS.
The programme was conducted under the theme “Saving Lives Through Immediate Action,” with the objective of equipping nursing students with essential life-saving skills and enhancing their ability to respond effectively during cardiac emergencies.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, ACN, and Prof. Shobha K R, HOD of Adult Health Nursing, ACN. The training session was attended by 3rd Semester BSc Nursing students and MSc Nursing students, along with faculty members.
The session was delivered by Dr. Shravya MS, Assistant Professor, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences. The programme commenced with a theoretical session covering the fundamentals of cardiac arrest, airway management, and BCLS protocols. This was followed by a demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
A hands-on training session was conducted using mannequins, where students practiced chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the use of resuscitation equipment. Active participation was observed among the students, and continuous guidance and feedback were provided to ensure accuracy and skill development.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session to reinforce key concepts and clarify doubts among the participants.

On 16th March 2026, Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing, Department of Nursing Education Technology organized an AV aids Model Exhibition. With the Theme- Exploring INNOVATIVE AV TECHNOLOGIES-2026".
Audio-visual aids play an important role in modern education by making teaching and learning more effective, interactive, and engaging. The exhibition aimed to encourage students to explore new and innovative technologies in educational media and demonstrate creative AV teaching aids that can improve classroom learning experiences.
From the 5th semester students are participated in the exhibition, with a total of 10 groups. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who creatively exhibited different methods of AV aids.
The judging panel consisted of esteemed faculty members Mrs. P M Shilpa and Mr. Kanthraju S, who evaluated the performances based on creativity & clarity. The 1st Prize won by GROUP- 7, 2nd prize GROUP-5, and 3rd prize GROUP-3 & 6.

Objectives:
1. To promote innovation and creativity among nursing students.
2. To showcase modern audio-visual technologies used in teaching and learning.
3. To enhance communication and presentation skills of students.
