Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil was established in 1967 by Dr.K.Padmanabhan and his wife Tmt.N. Bhagavathy Ammal, son-in-law and daughter respectively of late Thiru.Pioneer S.Kumaraswamy and was developed solely with the financial assistance provided by Tmt.N.Bhagavathy Ammal, to commemorate the name of late father, the Pioneer of Kanyakumari district in many fields especially in transport,

Agriculture and Industry. The College is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli started functioning in 1967 with pre-university classes and was housed in buildings belonging to Tmt.N.Bhagavathy Ammal. In 1968, the college was upgraded and degree programs were started in Economics, Zoology and Commerce.
