In keeping pace with the sweeping technological advancements, the necessity to provide technical education to the youth in general and the Catholics in particular, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar in Kanyakumari District established this Polytechnic College in August 1984. This Polytechnic College was granted recognition by the Government of Tamil Nadu as a Co-educational institution with a to
tal intake of 180 seats vides G.O.763 EST/84 dt.13.6.1984, offering three branches of Engineering such as Civil, Mechanical and Electronics & Communication. The three storeyed main blocks was officially declared open on 24.08.1987 by the founder Patron of the College and the Bishop of Kottar Most Rev.Dr.M.Arokiasamy.D.D. Additional branches of engineering namely computer Engineering and Information Technology were introduced, respectively in 1987 and 2001. Increasing the intake of Mechanical Engineering to 120, the annual intake of the Polytechnic College has been raised to 390 this year. The men's hostel was formally blessed by the present patron of the college and the Bishop of Kottar, the Most Rev.Dr.Leon A.Tharmaraj on 03.06.1991. True to the motto 'Towards Fullness of Life' engraved in the emblem of this Polytechnic College, every effort has been sincerely taken by the management to make this Polytechnic College full fledged with all the infrastructural facilities as per the stipulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi. As such AICTE approval was given to the College vide FNo 43-62/94-SRO/4373 dt. 14-11-94 in 1993-1994.
