Established in 1981, Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology (SGGSIET), Nanded, is one of the promising autonomous institutions in technical education, research and technology transfer. It receives 100% grant-in
aid from Government of Maharashtra and is affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Maratahwada University, Nanded. Started with just 2 undergraduate programs, it now offers 10 undergraduate, 10 postgraduate, and offers Ph.D. program. In less than 25 years of its inception, Institute has made a mark in technical education and quality research which got endorsed by a third-party survey constituted by Government of Maharashtra and headed by Dr. F. C. Kohli, Chairman, TCS. Through that survey conducted in 2004, we got identified as Institute which can be raised to the level of Centre of Excellence along with other institutes COE Pune, VJTI Mumbai, and ICT Mumbai. Pragmatic Management has taken steps to depute faculty to IITs and NITs for higher studies. Faculty acquired higher qualifications and brought back along with them culture of premier organizations. Institute is rich in highly qualified faculty with more than 50% of regular faculty Ph.D. holders. Modern facilities for teaching, research, and consultancy services are provided. Faculty have contributed for laboratory development through proposals to various funding agencies like AICTE, DST, BARC, NRB, etc. other than funding obtained under all three phases of TEQIP and from Government of Maharashtra. Most laboratories are kept open 24×7. Four departments have DST-FIST laboratories. Faculty research abilities have led to establishment of "Centre of Excellence in Signal and Image Processing" under TEQIP-II. We also established Centres of Excellence in Metal Forming, VLSI Design and Verification, and Solar Energy. Institute has progressive and pragmatic approach in providing its services to its stakeholders. We believe in self-learning of students. It is always our endeavor to provide encouraging environment for students’ learning. Collaborations with several premier institutes (including foreign universities) and industries provide opportunities like internships, credit transfers, industry relevant projects, etc., for students. Institute has signed MoUs for academic collaboration with Foreign Universities like CUNY CREST and Civil Engineering Department, The City University of New York, USA, Oakland University Michigan, USA, SAI Technologies, USA and Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia, etc. The institute has established the industry supported laboratories like E-PASS laboratory sponsored by Emerson Automation Solution, Mumbai, Center for VLSI Design and Verification by Mentor (a Siemens Company), USA and NVDIA GPU Education Centre, Pune giving fillip to the research and skill development activities. Students have also taken advantage and performed par excellence. It is exhibited by their placement either in terms of count or positions at various renowned industries, higher education opportunities (so far, our students have got AIR1 four times in GATE), establishing their own ventures (including MNCs), and selection in administrative and engineering services. Students have exhibited overall development through participation in socially relevant projects and activities. They have grabbed opportunities of serving local administration/government agencies through process of competitive bidding. Research culture of institute has been proven through publication in peer reviewed journals and reputed international conferences. Institute has excellent track record of publications with recent statistics as 1200+ peer reviewed publications, 8000+ research citations, 25 patents filed and two awarded. Many faculty members act as reviewers for international journals and have published 46 books. Many faculty are reviewers for international journals. Several books have also been published by faculty. The institute is having a very active Alumni network with SEAA (SGGS Engineers Alumni Association) as its front end registered organization. Alumni Meet is organized annually on the campus and occasionally in Abroad. Establishment of Innovation Laboratory, MHRD's Institution Innovation Council, Incubation Centre, and Engineering Exploration laboratory has led to innovation culture. Participation of roughly 15% of the total student strength in various Innovation projects is a key feature of the institution. Students get exposure to multidisciplinary and innovative project in institute Innovation laboratory. Students bagged many awards in National competitions like AIR-1 in BAJA 2020, AIR-3 in BAJA 2018, 5 Smart India Hackathon Winners, etc. Patenting is becoming a promising feature of the institute, because student projects are also getting converted into patents. Recently, the institute was selected to establish prestigious prestigious AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Laboratory. SGGSIET Nanded is one among only 5 institutes from Maharashtra selected for the scheme. It is also the only institute from Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. Under this scheme, institute will have to raise Rs. 55 lakh from Industry/institute funds, and AICTE will support Rs. 55 lakh. Institute was also ranked 89th in 2015 NIRF Rankings. Institute provides conducive environment and encouragement for improving students personality through students associations, various clubs, UPSC chapter, support for GATE, career guidance, organization of annual National level Technical event PRAGYAA, annual state level sport event ZENITH, and cultural activities through UTSAV. Foreign language certificate courses such as German, Spanish and French etc. are available to students and faculty. Institute boasts for having 25+ Placement MNC partners.
