The Department of Sociology, S. N. D. T. Women's University Organized on WORKSHOP ON FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR WOMEN 4th Feb 2024 through online mode at 11.00 a. m to 12.00 noon. The workshop began with the welcoming speech by Dr. Sujata Gokhale, Head of the Department of Sociology, S.N.D.T Women's University, Mumbai. The introduction of Chief Guest Mrs. Ashwini Deshapande , Certified Financial planner, done by Ms. Arshiya Walikar , Ph D Scholar of the Department of Sociology.

The Chief Guest Mrs. Ashwini Deshapande , Certified Financial planner, started the session asking some initial questions to students and elaborated what exactly the financial literacy and how women has to invest her money She explained each and every concept related with financial literacy in well ,easy and simple manner. It was an amazing session for each and every student and teachers of Department of Sociology .The programme was ended with the vote of thanks given by Swara Mhaske, Class Coordinator of MA part I.

The Department of Sociology, S. N. D. T. Women's University Organized WORKSHOP ON E-PLATFORMS FOR NETWORKING AND JOB SEARCH on 31st Jan 2024 through online mode at 7.00 p.m to 8.00 pm. The workshop began with the welcoming speech and Introduction of Resource Person by Dr. Sujata Gokhale, Head of the Department of Sociology, S.N.D.T Women's University, Mumbai.

Arshiya Walikar, Soft Skill Trainer started the session asking some initial questions to students and elaborated all available E platforms and emphasis on Linked -in platform. She explained how to prepare Resume and how to change the Resume as per the Employers requirement.

It was an amazing session for each and every student and Teacher of Department of Sociology .The programme was ended with the vote of thanks given by Manasi Dhavan, Class Coordinator of MA part II.

The Workshop started with welcome and Introduction of resource Persons by Dr.Sujata Gokhale. Head and Associate Professor, Department of Sociology.

The first session was conducted by Ms.Tanvi Purohit.

1st workshop was on work Etiquettes, the resource person was Ms. Tanvi Purohit, she explained very well about how we should be a person in an organization we are working and how should we present ourselves in the front the interviewer. The session ended with vote of thanks by Ms.Manasi Dhavan class coordinator M.A II

After the first session felicitation of three Rankers of M.A II ( SEM III ) was done in the hands of the workshops Resource persons .Students clapped and encourage them.

2nd session of the workshop was on graphic Designing, the resource person was Ms.Heth Upadhyay, she explained very well about the graphic Designing and she also showed us physically on the app how to do Designing of the poster creatively.

The Programme ended with vote of thanks by Ishika Bhingarde, Class coordinator M.A I.

Self Defense Workshop

The PG Department of Sociology at SNDT Women's University Churchgate organized a self defense workshop by Miss Sakshi Dhaigude on 4th October 2022. Miss Sakshi is a black belt in Karate, gold medalist in Karate, Kick boxing, Thai boxing, Marshall Arts and Judo in state and national levels. The workshop started by around 12 noon and ended at 2:00 pm. The workshop was started by Dr. Sujata Gokhale, Head of Sociology department welcoming one and all, introducing our guest Miss Sakshi Dhaigude and offering a small gift to our guest on behalf of the Sociology department. The theory part of the self defense workshop was held in classroom no 607 and the practical part was held in the foyer of Patkar Hall building. Both Ma Part 1 and 2 students enthusiastically participated in this self defense workshop.
They were also blackboard decorations done announcing the event. Miss Sakshi taught a lot of easy yet effective and useful self defense tips and tricks to the students which were also practiced by them enthusiastically in the foyer under her guidance. All in all, it was not just a necessary activity in the larger view of things but also a rooting and deeply enriching and exciting experience for all those who were a part of it. The workshop ended with the co-cordinator Miss Ritika Ahuja giving a formal vote of thanks to our guest.

University had organized various programmes under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav , Department of political science organized a poster competition and students from dept of sociology enthusiastically participated in the programme and prepared poster under the theme Azadi 75.The judge of the competition appreciated the work of our students.

The PG Department of Sociology at SNDT Women's University Churchgate celebrated Swachhta Abhiyan on 12 August 2022. This was one of a series of celebrations that took place as part of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which was a Central Government initiative to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence. The Sociology department did its part by cleaning the two classrooms that are used by the MA Year 1 and Year 2 students. They made efforts to keep the learning space clean and hgyienic. There were also blackboard decorations announcing the event, i.e. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. All in all, it was not just a necessary activity in the larger scheme of things but also a rooting and deeply enriching experience for all who were a part of it that day. The professors enabled and encouraged students to do their part and be part of the wider student community across India that engaged in the same celebration. It was a novel and uniting endeavour.

Our resource person for the day Dr. Mahesh Koltame, Assistant professor, P.v.d.t college, Churchgate Campus, Mumbai.

Our Guest speaker felicitated our rankers of class M.A part 1 and 2.

He gave an extensive explanation on various academic website's such as SHODHGANGA E-PG PATHSHALA EBSCO, JSTOR, SAGE PUBLICATIONS, ACADEMIA, UNESCO DIGITAL LIBRARY

It was an amazing learning session by our resource person which will be very helpful for each and every student of Department of Sociology

The Alumni meet Batch (2019-2021) was organized by the Department of Sociology, S.N.D.T. Women's University on 6th April, 2022.

The programme began with the welcoming speech given by Diksha Kamble class coordinator of M.A part 2, Later on brief introduction of the programme was given by the the
Dr.Sujata Gokhale,
Head of Department,
S.n.d.t. Women's University.

Each of the seniors shared their experiences about what they have been doing now after pursuing their master's degree in sociology.

The programme followed with a short game planned for the seniors by the Event co-ordinators Mehr Dey and Anumita Dutta of M.A Part 2.

After the fun interactive sessions a token of appreciation was given to the seniors. At the end some refreshments were given to everyone.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks given by Anumita Dutta student of M.A part 2.
