A step towards AI-integrated biosciences education and research.

The School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai, successfully inaugurated the AI & Digital Biology Cluster on 28 April 2026.
The cluster has been established as an academic and research initiative to integrate artificial intelligence with biosciences, enabling data-driven learning, interdisciplinary research, and application-oriented training.

The inauguration was graced by Dr. Arindam Banerjee, CEO and Director, LifeSenz, who formally inaugurated the facility and interacted with faculty and students.

This initiative brings together the School’s strengths in biotechnology, bioinformatics, and computational sciences, and is envisioned as a platform to strengthen research, student engagement, and industry–academia interaction.

Bridging Academia with the Future of Precision Medicine

The School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics was proud to be represented at the Precision Med India Conclave 2026, Mumbai, with participation from Dr. Debjani Dasgupta (Director), Dr. Naveen Padmadas, and Dr. Mala Parab.

The conclave brought together leading experts across oncology, genomics, and computational biology, with sessions spanning multi-omic molecular profiling, AI-driven clinical decision making, targeted therapies, and continuous precision care.

A key insight across discussions was clear:
Healthcare is rapidly transitioning toward an integrated, data-driven, and AI-enabled paradigm.

Notable perspectives from experts such as Dr. Sanjeeva Srivastava (IIT Bombay) and Dr. Prashant Kumar (Datar Cancer Genetics) further emphasized the importance of cross-omic integration and computational approaches in driving clinical outcomes.

What stood out strongly was the shift: From isolated datasets → to connected biological systems
From episodic decisions → to real-time, continuous precision care
These directions closely align with the academic framework we continue to strengthen — where biotechnology, bioinformatics, and data science converge to enable systems-level and translational understanding.

We are proud to share that Dr. Mala Parab, faculty member of our institute, has been honoured with the “Streeratan Samman” at the Sakhi Utsav organized by Lokmat in association with Kalishquaa.
The award was presented during a special Holi and Women’s Day celebration event held in Thane, bringing together accomplished women from diverse backgrounds.

The School of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, D Y Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai successfully conducted the Industry–Academia Meet 2025–26 on 7th February 2026.

Aligned with the theme “Gateway to the Industry”, the meet featured insightful sessions by distinguished industry experts:
Dr. Sudip K. Samanta, Industrial Biotechnology Advisor;
Dr. Urmila Kulkarni-Kale, Senior Vice President, Citadel Precision Medicine;
Mr. Rajib Saha, Quality Assurance Manager, Mondelez Foods India (Cadbury);

Our students stepped into the future of biotechnology at the BIO‑India World Expo & Conferences 2026, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, under the theme Reimagining the Future of Biotech in India.

Dr. Debjani Dasgupta, Director, represented the institution at this prestigious national platform. She was accompanied by Dr. Naveen Padmadas, Academic Lead, and a group of 40 students from B.Tech Biotechnology, B.Tech Bioinformatics and Data Science.

The conference brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and researchers shaping India’s bioeconomy. Students gained first-hand exposure to cutting-edge developments in:
