The college auditorium at SHAHEED RAJGURU COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCES FOR WOMEN played host to RAJGURU DAY and CONVOCATION 2022 on 6th September, 2022. The Chief Guest invited was Mr. Jasmine Shah, Vice Chairperson of the Delhi government's Dialogue and Development Commission.
As honorary guests, Mr. Sanjeev Jha, a member of the Delhi legislature representing the Burari constituency, Prof. V.S. Chauhan, a recipient of the Padma Shri Award, and Arturo Falaschi, an emeritus scientist of the ICGEB, Kuldeep Kumar, MLA, Kondli, Vaibhav Srivastava, Chairperson, governing body of Maitreyi college also attended the event. Principal Dr. Payal Mago, along with members of governing body Mr. Bhaskar Sharma, Mrs. Ila Srivastava, Mr. Ravinder Kumar and other members welcomed the guests.
The event began with Lamp Lighting by Dr. Payal Mago and the Guests of Honor. Dr. Mago elaborated in her speech, the journey of Shaheed Rajguru College from having two courses and 17 rooms to now being the one with 14 courses (NIRF Rank 36, NAAC A+ Grade).
Further, Mr. Jasmine Shah congratulated all the graduating students saying, “Live for a dream, live in something larger than yourself, you are already a part of a larger story and that story is of India“. Prof V.S. Chauhan addressed the audience saying, “The biggest achievement of India since independence is the elevation of female literacy.” Mr. Sanjeev Jha also congratulated the graduates, talked about Rajguru ji and how he sacrificed his life for the nation. Ms.Ila Srivastava mentioned the purpose of establishing the statue of Shaheed Rajguru ji, said it is to keep the spirit of patriotism among the college students. The audience was also addressed by Mr. Kuldeep Kumar, MLA for Kondli.
More than 300 students and 3 university topper Gold Medalists of 14 departments received graduate degrees. The university toppers included Ms. Raveena Rautela from the Instrumentation department with a gpa 9.34 and Akansha Ghosh from Food Technology. The audience also witnessed the spectacular performances of Philyra (The Music Society), Ahaarya (The Dance Society) and Mukhauta (The Dramatics Society).
Towards the conclusion of the event, Mr. Ravinder Jha (Treasurer, Governing Body) offered the vote of thanks to the audience.
It was truly a successful event for all members involved.
