|| HUDCO 2018 ||

The brief provoked to reinterpret riverfronts in cities and design a complex along a chosen riverside to develop an integrated setup of commercial, recreational and residential uses in one place, while enriching the historical connect of the river with the people of the city.

It has been reported that several remains of the Indus Valley civilisation like pottery, artefacts and weapons have been found near this site which adds historic significance to the drain.
With the Najafgarh being the biggest polluter of the Yamuna, it’s imperative that the drain be first cleaned before moving on to saving the latter.
Hence, the design was proposed in a modular format with 10 sites being chosen to replenish the drain and bringing the masses to its banks.
The entire riverfront is designed strategically to reduce the need of active green design strategies by efficient implementation of passive ones.

|| Nari Gandhi 2018 || Citation ||

The oddly sculpted 108 feet tall Hanuman, standing at the Jhandewalan crossing near Karol Bagh, can be dismissed as one of the many idiosyncratic religious structure in Delhi.
At first glance, the tall, bright orange muscular figure of hanuman , which faces a roundabout at the intersection of 5 roads is in the geographically central part of Delhi; however, it is a testament of what delhi is now, bringing to the light the city's power holds and temperament of its residents.

The proposal was critically driven by the importance of sustainable lifestyle and hence aims to deliver an experience which ignites a subconscious drive to adopt the same.
The built masses offer an array of distinct niches and terraces appropriated for daily community activities fostering the ‘Mohalla’ culture of Lucknow.
A psychological attempt based on the principle of cognition tries to tie all the spatial elements into a sensory experience as the users get familiar with the environment.
Hence these spaces become a landmark in the daily transition of the users and leave a mark in their subconscious. Every green system has been planned with human involvement thus, making the users more responsive and responsible towards the environment.

|| DESTECH 2018 || Shortlisted ||

Our designed app, Urban Trails, caters to a wide audience consisting not only of students and architects
but also wanderers, story tellers and travellers; being an amalgamation of features that will satisfy the likings of all.
It helps encapsulate a varied number of journeys and experiences, thus enabling an exchange of innovative ideas.

DESTECH 2018 Challenge was to create a conceptual design of a digital app to capture local urban trails through smart phones. The app gives its users the ability to
1.Enroll for guided tours to experience the story uploaded by someone else
2.Go through advertisements, pertaining to their interests, for revenue generation and increased opportunities.
3.Add your own experience through the various medium options provided.
4.Visualise your 3D model on a real, specific site with Augmented Reality and share it with the world.
Add on features like 'meet a friend', become a 'verified user', 'share a story' or 'customisation of app' on the basis of an individual's interest were provided to make it user friendly.

A website, complementing the app, was also designed to explain in detail the benefits of our app and provide the users the option to edit their stories as and when required.

|| ANDC 2018 ||
Ancient Gateways as Liminal Spaces in the fast growing urban metropolis// Badarpur, an urban village located at the border in South East Delhi, has its roots tracing back to the Mughal Era. It was an important stop on the grand trunk road, a sarai(an inn) enroute to the capital. The remnants of the inn structures stand today, not as what they were used for, but as a marker, about which a market grew over the ages.
Even though shops share walls with the gateways, people do not share any emotional connect with them.
Since this is the only market in the area, the design proposes to enhance the function of gateways to enable expansion of the ground floor market to upper levels.
The gateway acts as a circulation core to connect the balconies of the market buildings, creating opportunities for more shops to develop in this prime area.

“A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means, when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable”-Louis I Kahn
Kath-kuni architecture- wood at the corner, is centuries old indigenous construction technique used in many villages of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Jarada, a village in Barkot, Uttarakhand have houses which have a remarkable earth quake resistance structure with the interiors of the houses protecting from the harsh cold weather. The astute settlement pattern of villages like Jarada speaks a lot about their rich history and culture. “Untraversed”- An attempt to deeply explore material, design detailing and construction tech as against the broad design of houses.

In fond memory of Anubhav Agrawal.
