Centre for Law and Urban Development, in collaboration with the Society of Construction Law India, is organising the Centre for Law & Urban Development- Society of Construction Law Certificate Course on Construction Contracts and Disputes, to be held on 9th–10th May at National Law University, Delhi.

Over the course of two days, participants will be introduced to the full spectrum of construction law, from contract structures and risk allocation to international standard forms like FIDIC and NEC, claims management, delay analysis, arbitration, mediation, adjudication, and beyond. The course will be led by an exceptional lineup of speakers, including senior advocates, partners at leading law firms, and in-house counsel from major corporations.

This course is open to students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th year of a 5-year law programme, 2nd and 3rd year LL.B. students, and graduates with an interest in infrastructure and construction law.

The NLU Delhi Foundation has signed an MoU with the Indian Governance and Policy Project (IGAP) on 26 February 2026 to support innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives within the University.

Through this partnership, NLU Delhi Foundation and IGAP aim to deepen interdisciplinary research, strengthen engagement with policymakers and industry leaders, and contribute to informed policy-making on issues of national and global importance.

We look forward to building a meaningful collaboration that advances research, innovation and thought leadership in public policy and governance as we involve the Centre of Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) to further the aim of the MoU.

NLU Delhi Foundation has entered into an MoU with Kaio Communications LLP on 19 February 2026 with a mandate to nurture and support legal-tech entrepreneurship and innovation.

The purpose of this MoU is to establish a collaborative framework to jointly undertake initiatives in the areas of technology policy, digital governance, legal innovation, and multi-stakeholder capacity building by leveraging the strengths of both parties, including working in furtherance of the objectives of the Centre for Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).

The Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) at National Law University Delhi had the privilege of hosting Mr. Saurav Panda, Equity Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., for a guest session on 15th April 2026.

Mr. Panda delivered an insightful lecture on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Act, 2026, focusing on its evolving implications for India’s insolvency framework. He highlighted key reforms aimed at reducing judicial discretion, strengthening timelines in the CIRP process, and enhancing creditor-driven mechanisms, while also discussing emerging concepts such as group insolvency and cross-border insolvency frameworks.

Through practical illustrations and examples from insolvency practice, he unpacked the recent amendments and their impact on key stakeholders. The session effectively connected statutory developments with their real-world application, enabling students to better understand the strategic and institutional implications of these reforms within the insolvency ecosystem.

The session was coordinated by Dr Raghav Pandey, Chair director, Insolvency & Restructuring Studies, National Law University Delhi. We were pleased to host Mr Abizer Diwanji, Founder, NeoStrat Advisors LLP, for an engaging session with the Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) students at National Law University Delhi on 17th April 2026.

With over 26 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Diwanji led a discussion spanning the corporate lifecycle, the evolving IBC ecosystem, and the practical realities of insolvency resolution and turnaround management.

The session stood out for its strong practical orientation, with detailed case studies including DHFL, CG Power, and other large distressed situations, illustrating how resolution strategies are shaped in real-world scenarios. He also reflected on systemic challenges within the IBC framework, including delays, stakeholder coordination, and the gap between process compliance and value maximisation.

The session was coordinated by Dr Raghav Pandey, Chair Director, Insolvency & Restructuring Studies, National Law University Delhi. We sincerely thank Mr. Diwanji for his time and for sharing valuable insights that significantly enriched the academic experience of the PGIP cohort.

Mr. Hari Hara Mishra, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) in India, delivered a guest session for the Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) at National Law University Delhi on 8th April 2026.

Mr. Mishra delivered an insightful lecture on “ARC – Gateway to Stressed Assets (India),” focusing on the role of Asset Reconstruction Companies in resolving stressed assets and strengthening India’s financial sector.

Drawing upon his extensive professional experience, he offered valuable perspectives on the ARC ecosystem and its interface with legal recovery mechanisms, including the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and engaging with key issues relating to ARCs, recovery frameworks, and broader financial sector challenges.

National Law University Delhi is pleased to share the publication of Mapping Empirical Legal Scholarship in India – A Doctoral Review, authored by Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai and Dr. Samar I. Bakshi, and published by Satyam Law International.

The publication presents a rigorous and comprehensive mapping of nearly 4,000 doctoral theses in legal studies submitted between 2009 and 2023. By identifying over 1,105 dissertations within the domain of Empirical Legal Research, the study offers a data-driven examination of the scope, depth, and trajectory of empirical legal scholarship in India.

This pioneering contribution serves as an important resource for researchers, legal academics, and policymakers, advancing evidence-based engagement with legal scholarship in India.

The publication is available with Satyam Law International, and copies are also accessible through the University Library.

National Law University Delhi successfully hosted the 14th Edition of Jurist Speaks – Eminent Scholars Lecture Series, featuring Prof. Upendra Baxi, Distinguished Professor, NLU Delhi and Emeritus Professor of Law at the Universities of Warwick and Delhi, on 21 April 2026 at the Moot Court Hall.

Prof. Baxi delivered a deeply engaging lecture on “Hyper-Delegation of Legislative Powers – A Constitutional Necessity or Erosion?”. In his lecture, Prof. Baxi examined the implications of expanding legislative delegation for democratic accountability, separation of powers, and constitutional governance.

The lecture was conducted under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Chair for Professional Ethics, NLU Delhi. The session witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and the University community, fostering meaningful academic dialogue on contemporary constitutional issues.

The University expresses its sincere gratitude to Prof. Upendra Baxi for his invaluable contribution to academic discourse and for enriching the learning experience of the NLU Delhi community.
