Under the aegis of the IQAC, National Law University Delhi (NLUD) celebrated International Yoga Day on 21 June 2026 with enthusiastic participation from all staff members, including the Registrar. The programme was organized in accordance with this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing."

The yoga session was conducted by Mr. Surendra, Yoga Instructor, who guided participants through a series of yoga postures, stretching exercises, and breathing techniques aimed at enhancing flexibility, mobility, balance, and overall well-being. Considering the sedentary nature of many workplace routines, the session highlighted the importance of regular physical activity and yoga in promoting healthy ageing and preventing lifestyle-related health concerns.

On 18.06.2026, National Law University Delhi was honoured to host Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Former Union Cabinet Minister and Hon’ble Member, Lok Sabha, for an interactive session with the participants of the Credit-based Certificate Course on the New Criminal Laws organised by NLUD in collaboration with the ICPS, New Delhi.

Vice-Chancellor, NLU Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, welcomed Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and highlighted the course’s significance in deepening the understanding of India’s new criminal laws. He also underscored NLU Delhi’s contribution to India’s criminal law reforms and acknowledged the valuable collaboration of ICPS in advancing constitutional, parliamentary, and legal education initiatives.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad delivered a thought-provoking address, placing India’s new criminal laws within their broader historical, constitutional, and civilisational context. Drawing on his rich experience at the Bar and in public life, he encouraged participants to critically reflect on the evolution of the criminal justice system and commended NLU Delhi’s significant contribution to India’s criminal law reform process.

Registrar, NLU Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) Risham Garg, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad for his insightful interaction and acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, participants, and partners who made the programme a resounding success.

The interaction reinforced a shared commitment to advancing meaningful criminal justice reforms through scholarship, dialogue, and public engagement.

Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai appointed as Chairperson of UGC Expert Committee for Evaluation of MOOC Proposals for SWAYAM Platform

We are delighted to share that Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Delhi, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Expert Committee for the evaluation of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) proposals under the SWAYAM platform.

In this distinguished role, Prof. Bajpai will lead the expert committee entrusted with assessing and reviewing proposals for the development of high-quality online courses aimed at enhancing access to higher education and promoting innovation in teaching and learning across the country.

The recent meeting of the Committee, held on June 15, 2026, deliberated upon several MOOC proposals, including courses on Legal Startups and Entrepreneurship and other emerging interdisciplinary academic areas. The Committee examined the proposals with a view to ensuring academic excellence, relevance, and alignment with the objectives of the SWAYAM initiative.

We are pleased to announce that the team representing National Law University Delhi, comprising Priyansh Singh (4th Year), Pratishtha Singh (3rd Year), and Arshia Singla (3rd Year), emerged as the Winners of the XIV NLIU - Trilegal International Mediation Tournament, organised by the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, in association with Trilegal. In addition to the team’s championship victory, Priyansh Singh was individually awarded the citation for the Third Best Client.

The tournament featured a highly rigorous format, commencing with three preliminary rounds that witnessed intense participation from 36 elite teams across Asia. To qualify for the advanced stages, teams were required to secure top cumulative scores across all three preliminary rounds. Demonstrating exceptional mediation skills, tactical acumen, and collaborative problem-solving, the NLU Delhi team successfully broke into the top four slots for the Semi-Finals before advancing to the Grand Finals to clinch the title.

Originally organised in collaboration with the International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR), Chicago, the NLIU International Mediation Tournament has evolved over fourteen successful editions into an independent flagship event. The competition is widely recognized as one of Asia’s oldest and most respected student mediation competitions, as well as the largest and most prestigious mediation tournament in India. It remains celebrated for fostering cross-cultural learning, advanced legal training, and evaluation by a distinguished panel of global ADR professionals.
