Where does strategy really come to life?
For Vidhi, her summer internship at ITC Limited has revealed that some of the most important business decisions aren’t made in boardrooms—they’re shaped in the

As an Area Manager Intern in ITC’s Trade Marketing and Distribution Division, Vidhi is working on Sales and Distribution Strategy for the snacks category, gaining firsthand exposure to how products, retailers, distributors, and consumers connect on the ground.

What surprised her most was how much

lives at the last mile.
“I came in expecting the big decisions to happen in boardrooms, but the real insight was in a kirana store at 10 a.m.”

Reflecting on her experience, Vidhi credits IMI Delhi for helping her develop structured problem-solving skills. Through case discussions and classroom debates, she learned how to form a point of view quickly, work with limited information, and defend her thinking under pressure.

One project she is particularly proud of involved designing an incentive scheme for the ground sales team—an initiative that went on to shape a pilot implementation.

And if she had to describe the experience in one word?
“Humbling.”

What does it take to automate a critical business process at India’s largest manufacturer?

For Shubham, his summer internship at Maruti Suzuki India Limited has been a lesson in ownership and ex*****on. As a
Intern in the GRC team, he works on SAP authorisations, user access provisioning, workflow automation, and compliance initiatives.

One of the biggest surprises for Shubham was Maruti Suzuki’s open and collaborative culture.
“I expected a traditional corporate hierarchy, but everyone—from team members to senior leaders—works together on the same floor. It makes learning and collaboration much easier.”

Reflecting on his experience, Shubham credits IMI Delhi for helping him develop one invaluable skill: the ability to ask the right questions. That curiosity has helped him quickly understand complex processes and contribute more effectively.

A project he is particularly proud of involved automating SAP access provisioning through bot development. From coordinating with IT teams to troubleshooting challenges, the experience taught him the value of taking ownership and delivering results.

And if he had to describe the experience in one word?
“Horenso.”

A Japanese philosophy built around three principles:

For Ishvita Seth, her summer internship at The D. E. Shaw Group has been an immersive introduction to the world of data-driven decision-making. As part of the team, she works on understanding how new datasets are sourced, evaluated, and integrated within a hedge fund environment.

One of the biggest surprises for Ishvita has been the extraordinary level of attention to detail.
“Even small inconsistencies in data are carefully investigated because they can meaningfully impact downstream decisions.”

Reflecting on her experience, she credits IMI Delhi for helping her become comfortable with solving unstructured problems — learning how to define the problem first, identify relevant information, and build a logical approach before moving to ex*****on.

A project she is particularly proud of involved conducting research on dataset evaluation, where a structured and methodical approach helped generate practical recommendations for future decision-making.

THE INTERNSHIP EDIT: Inside the internship journeys of IMI Delhi students

Meet Diya Koul, currently interning at BMW India as an Intern, where she is gaining hands-on exposure across multiple facets of HR and organisational processes.

“What surprised me the most was how collaborative and approachable everyone is despite the scale of BMW as an organisation. The internship experience has been extremely holistic and designed around meaningful learning.”

Reflecting on her journey so far, Diya shares that IMI Delhi played a key role in strengthening her teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills — helping her navigate fast-paced corporate environments with greater confidence.

One of the experiences she feels most proud of was contributing to the local adoption of a policy initiative:
