Greetings from the English Debating Society of Hindu College, University of Delhi!

We take pride in announcing our third core adjudicator, Ishaan Chawdhary!

Ishaan has been able to carve a distinctive name for themselves by the virtue of their sound and articulate debating skills. They are one of the finest debaters in the circuit and have won and been the best speaker at Mukarji Memorial Debate 2022 and Polemic 2021. They have also been a part of the winning team at Axiom 2021, SBS PD 2020 and Rahat PD 2020. They were also the finalist at SLS PD 2020 and Derozio Memorial Debate 2020. Apart from having numerous speaking credentials they have also proved themselves as an excellent adjudicator. They were the Best Adjudicator at IITPD 2019. They have also core adjudicated at People Speak 2022 and DCAC Fundraiser Debate 2021.
We are extremely happy to have Ishaan Chowdhary as our Third Core Adjudicator for the 20th Annual Premchand Memorial Debate, 2022!

Greetings from the English Debating Society of Hindu College, University of Delhi!

We take pride in announcing our second core adjudicator, Vaishnavi Bhaskar!

With great accolades won in both debating and adjing, Vaishnavi has been named as one of the most successful debaters in the circuit. From winning RML PD 2020 along with being the 2nd best speaker there, to being finalist at Symiksha 2019, semi finalist at DRC PD 2019, People Speak 2018, Wax Eloquent 2020 and more, Vaishnavi has maintaned an excellent record of speaker credentials. Some of their exceptional adjing achievements include, being held the 1st best adjudicator at Speak up 2019, 2nd best adjudicator at Taqreer 2019 and 3rd best adjudicator at Polemic 2019 and Debutante 2018. Not only this, Vaishnavi has been on the Core panel for India Debate Open 2020, Munaazrah 2021, Dissension 2020, Wax Eloquent 2021, MNMPD 2021, SDSMMPD 2021, Polemic 2021, JDMC 2022 and MLNPD 2022. With all these eminent achievements and more, their journey up until now has been nothing short of excellence.

Greetings from the English Debating Society of Hindu College, University of Delhi!

We take pride in announcing our first core adjudicator, Sayantan Bhattacharyya!

An established name in both the domestic and International Debate circuits, Sayantan Bhattacharyya has made a mark in the countless tournaments they have adjudicated and debated at. An Alfred Tuna Snider Award winner and ESL Speaker with the 18th rank at WUDC, they are one of the finest debaters our circuit has seen. From winning ILS Pune to being the finalist at Sri Vishveshwarya Memorial Debate, Nalsar IV debate and RV Debating Tournament, their experience has been nothing short of excellence. Besides having an incredible adjudicating experience, they have also been on the Core Adjudication Panel at KIIT, 2021, NLUJ 2021, SLS PD 2021, IIM Indore 2022 and NUJS 2022.

We are extremely delighted to have Sayantan Bhattacharyya onboard as a Core Adjudicator for the 20th Annual Premchand Memorial Debate, 2022!

Greetings from the English Debating Society of Hindu College, University of Delhi!

Due to the pandemic, the last two editions of Premchand have been online which has unfortunately imposed limitations on the warm hospitality that we can extend to our participants, something successive organizing committees have proudly done in the past. However, this year, as we plan to make the 20th Annual Premchand Memorial Debate offline, we hope to give our participants a warm and wonderful experience.

As we successfully complete another session, the English Debating Society of Hindu College looks back at it's journey through yet another successful year of debates.

The Hindu Debating Society set new records for itself with astounding performances in both national and international tournments this year. We were proud to see the active participation from both seniors and freshers, the latter, showing remarkable results with every tournment.

The session kicked off with Manak Kataria and Yatharth Dhingra breaking at the Covenant International Debating Championship Invitationals and reaching the Quarterfinals of the tournment.

At the TIB Judo Eminence International, Medhansh Bhardwaj had an amazing run and became the Open Grand Finalist.

Gauri Ramachandran made the Hindu English Debating Society extremely proud by emerging as a Quarter Finalist at DSNLU PD.

At the Jagran Lakecity University's tournament, Yatharth Dhingra and Manak Kataria went on to become Semi-Finalists and secured the award for The Best Speaker, Best Reply Speaker and 10th best speaker respectively, Bringing laurels to Hindu debating society.

Once again, Hindu debating society was made proud, At the Law and Justice open, Medhansh Bhardwaj was a Silver Grand Finalist and bagged the top 10 ESL speakers .

The following month, At the Asian Schools Debating Championship Medhansh Bhardwaj was an Invited Adjudicator and went on to Chair the Novice Quarter-Finals.

We were proud to see Anupa Paulchaudhuri, Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi at Polemic PD, where they broke and went on to become the Quarter-Finalists.

At Rahat, the fundraiser tournament, We witnessed a brilliant run from Manak Kataria breaking as an Adjudicator and Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi becoming the Semi-Finalists and the 8th and 12th Best speakers respectively.

Gauri Srivastava participated at the National Law University Orissa BP tournament and broke as an Adjudicator.

At the Daulat Ram College Asian Parliamentary Debate, Gauri Srivastava secured the 2nd Best Adjudicator and was a panelist in the Open Grand Finals. At the same tournament Gauri Ramachandran and Medhansh Bhardwaj were the Octa-Finalists. Mehr was declared the best adjudicator and was the Open Grand finals chair.

At the Taiwan International JL Debating Championship, Yatharth Dhingra and Shivansh Raman were declared winners and also secured the award for the Finals Best Speaker and The 4th Overall Best Speaker.

At Nalsar IV, Yatharth Dhingra went on to become the Quarter-Finalist of the tournment.
Adding on to his wins , Yatharth Dhingra was crowned the Winner at Bangladesh International Debate, where he also bagged the Best Finals Speaker and the Best Overal Speaker as well.


The Hindu contingent made us proud yet again at the parliamentary debate organised by the National Law University Jodhpur, where Medhansh Bhardwaj was an Invited Adjudicator and went on to judge the Novice Finals and Mehr Kaur was a Breaking Subsidized Adjudicator. Yatharth Dhingra and Manak Kataria went on to become Semi-Finalists with Yatharath Dhingra also bagging the 3rd Best Speaker.

We were delighted by the run at DCAC’s Fundraiser Debate where Manak Kataria, Yatharth and Gauri Ramachandran finished as Semi-Finalists with both Gauri and Yatharth being amongst the top 10 speakers.

At Munaazrah 2021, Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi emerged as the QuarterFinalists for the tournament in a cross with Mehr being declared the 5th best speaker.

At Ambedkar University's Parliamentary Debate, Yatharth was declared the Winner for the debate in a cross team whereas Mehr Kaur judged the Novice Finals and was declared the Best Adjudicator for the debate.

We were extremely delighted to see, Gauri Srivastava as the Invited Adjudicator for the IUDC NLUO Asian Parliamentary debate.

The year concluded with Mehr Kaur making us extremly proud, as being the Invited Adjudicator for WhipperSnappa Australs organised by Auckland University.

2022 began with Medhansh Bhardwaj being announced as the Invited Adjudicator for Vish Parliamentary Debate. For the same, Medhansh went on to judge Open Semi-Finals along with Open Grand Finals. Following to this, Medhansh Bhardwaj was the Invited Adjudicator for College of Business Studies Parliamentary debate.

We were delighted to see Mehr Kaur finishing as a Semi-Finalist at the ILS Parliamentary Debate. At the same tournament, Manak Kataria and Yatharth Dhingra were declared Quarter-Finalists.

Gauri Srivastava was Breaking Adjudicator and OGF panelist for Justice Tarkunde Memorial debate.

At People Speak organized by Sri Venketeshwara College, Gauri Ramachandran, Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi emerged as Octa-Finalists.

With the new batch of freshers on board, we were once again prepared and ready to take on the debating circuit and add more laurels to The Hindu Debating Society.

At Shivaji Memorial Conventional Debate, we were extremely proud to see Shreeya Prasoon secure the prize of Best Interjector.

At Atharv BPD organized by IIM Indore, Manak Kataria had a brilliant run by emerging as the Semi-Finalist of the tournament.

We were thrilled to see our contingent’s performance at RMNLU PD where Hindu teams and adjes made an impeccable set of achievements. Gauri Ramachandran, Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi broke on top of tabs and went on to become the Semi-Finalists whereas Shalwin Yoosuf became the Best Novice Adjudicator and Chaired The Novice Finals and also bagged the Best Open Adjudicator.

At SBS BPD Medhansh Bhardwaj was Invited as an adjudicator and chaired Novice Finals and judges Open Grand Finals.

Manak Kataria, at Vitark hosted by DDUC, went on to become the semi-finalist and at the same tournament Shreya Mahajan broke as an adjudicator.

Shreeya Prasoon and Chirag Singh cleared the preliminary round and became Finalists at Jim Kalkaji Memorial Conventional Debate.

Nitin Singh Rana and Shalwin Yoosuf went on to become Quarter Finalists and At the same tournament, Saif Sheikh broke as an adjudicator at SGGSCC PD Tournament

At Polemic 2022 by Ramjas College, Mehr Kaur was one of the subsidised adjudicators and Harsh*t Mahrishi became the third best adjudicator and was a panelist for the open grand finals.

Adding on to our Achievements, Yatharth Dhingra went on to become the finalist at Axiom PD.

At NLUJ PD, Yatharath Dhingra became the 3rd best speaker and went on to become the semi-finalist.

We were once again extremely proud to see Medhansh Bhardwaj being invited as an adjudicator at IIT PD.

Medhansh Bhardwaj was invited as an adjudicator at Vivaad'22 organized by IPCW and At the same tournament Shalwin Yoosuf broke as an Adjudicator.

We were extremely delighted to see Harsh*t Mahrishi became the 5th best speaker and the Grand Finalist at Sardar Dayal Singh Memorial PD

Medhansh Bhardwaj once again made us proud, by being invited as an adjudicator at SRCC PD and was being a panelist for the Novice Semi-Finals

Medhansh Bhardwaj was invited as an adjudicator at Manzar PD and went on to judge Open Grand Finals and chaired the Open Semi-Finals.

Gauri R., Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi broke at FTD' 22 and went on to become Quarter-Finalists.

At LSR PD, Mehr Kaur, Sanya Sethi and Gauri went on to become the finalists and Harsh*t broke as an Adjudicator and Chaired the open quarter finals.

We were joyful to see Shalwin Yoosuf became the Best Speaker at Abhivyakti Conventional Debate hosted by Satyawati College.

Having Medhansh Bhardwaj as an invited adjudicator at Debutant IIT PD, made us proud yet again.

Shalwin Yoosuf was seen as a subsidised adjudicator at Pratijja- hosted by KIIT.

Shalwin Yoosuf broke as an adjudicator and was the panelist of the Open Grand Finals at RR.Lockdown.exe, Africa.

As our journey in debating continues, we also pause to reflect on the growth that we have experienced as a society. Every tournament, every win, in these trying times, has taught each one of us to not just value the activity, but more importantly, to value the people that make this Debating Society all that it is today. We remind ourselves that in all its competitiveness, the society remains a safe space for learning, fun, and growth for all. We eagerly look forward to the approaching season and hope to keep up our outstanding performance and further improve on it. Congratulations to all our members!

As we come to the conclusion of another semester, the English Debating Society congratulates the General Body for the academic session 2021-22 comprising Gauri Ramachandran, Medhansh Bhardwaj, Anupa Paulchaudhuri, Mehr Kaur and Sanya Sethi for successfully finishing their tenure. We’re proud to announce the new general body for the session 2022-2023, comprising - Mehr Kaur, Sanya Sethi, Anvisha Srivastava, Nitin Singh Rana and Shalwin Yoosuf.

We wish them the very best for the coming year and hope they have a fruitful tenure!

Slot allocation mails have been sent out to all the teams for the Annual Sanjay Shrivastava Memorial Debate 2022. Please check your inbox/spam/ promotions folder etc. Teams that fail to acknowledge the mail and confirm their participation by 11:59 AM, 19 April 2022 shall lose their slot and won't be allowed to participate at the tournament. Further, please note, institutions that confirm their participation and fail to show up on the date of the event without prior timely and legitimate notice shall be barred from all future tournaments organised by English Debating Society of Hindu College.

Greetings!

The English Debating Society of Hindu College is organising its annual conventional debate,

The 4th Annual Sanjay Shrivastava Memorial Debate

Date: 20th April, 2022

Keeping in line with the previous three editions, this one too shall be graced by esteemed members of the Government of India.

The details of the debate are as follows :

1. The debate shall proceed in a classic conventional format.
2. There will be a preliminary round followed by a final round. The schedule shall be communicated to the teams later!
3. The motion for both the rounds shall be released one day prior to the event.
4. One team shall comprise of two speakers; one speaking FOR the motion, the other speaking AGAINST the motion.
5. Each speaker will have 4 minutes to deliver their speech.
6. The tournament shall be held in-person at Hindu College, University of Delhi.
7. Only INSTITUTIONAL teams are allowed; cross college participation shall not be allocated slots.

The prizes are as follows :

1. The winning team shall be awarded a sum of Rs 12,000
2. The runners up shall be awarded a sum of Rs. 8,000
3. The second runners up will be awarded a sum of Rs. 5,000
4. The Best Speaker (FOR) will be awarded a sum of Rs. 5,000
5. The Best Speaker (AGAINST) will be awarded a sum of Rs. 5,000.
