Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India To create Consumer Awareness, to protect Consumer Intersts and Rights.

Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is one of the two Departments under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It was constituted as a separate Department in June 1997 as it was considered necessary to have a separate Department to give a fillip to the nascent consumer movement in the country.

Shri Ashutosh Agarwal, Director, Legal Metrology, Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA), chaired the Weekly Virtual Jan Sunwai, aimed at strengthening support for industry stakeholders. During the session, he addressed sector-specific issues raised by industry representatives and discussed possible solutions. The platform helped improve communication, clarify regulatory provisions, and resolve day-to-day concerns faced by industries. The meeting was attended by representatives from various industries and officers from Central and State Legal Metrology.

उपभोक्ता मामले विभाग ने Government Approved Test Centres (GATCs) के दायरे का विस्तार करते हुए CNG, LPG, LNG और हाइड्रोजन डिस्पेंसरों के सत्यापन को सक्षम बनाया है, जिससे सत्यापन योग्य भार एवं माप उपकरणों की कुल श्रेणियाँ 18 से बढ़कर 23 हो गई हैं।

सटीक माप सुनिश्चित करने, सेवा दक्षता बढ़ाने और उपभोक्ता विश्वास को मजबूत करने की दिशा में एक और कदम।

Department of Consumer Affairs has expanded the scope of Government Approved Test Centres (GATCs), enabling verification of CNG, LNG and Hydrogen dispensers and increasing the total categories of weights and measures from 18 to 23.
