Amity International Literature Festival

It's officially time for the proud and stubborn to go head on head! At the Amity International Literature Festival 2019, we invite you to take part in The Conventional Debate Competition where you put forward your opinions and views on various issues and take part in the ultimate battle of wits!

Listed below are the Rules of Procedure along with the Motion to be debated upon.

The RoPs for the event are as follows:
● On the day of the debate, random pre-drawn matchups would be released, with the predefined stances.
● As per norm, for the motion goes first followed by the opposition.
● The speaking time for each debater is 3 minutes of constructive speech. A grace time of 15 seconds will be provided for conclusion, at the end of which, points will be deducted for exceeding the stipulated time.
● At the end of the stipulated 3 minutes, the competing debater gets to ask a point of information/ interjection to the constructive speaker. The time to answer the interjection is 1 minute.
● The scoring and evaluation of the debaters will be on the metric of the matter, the manner and the structure of their debate speech.
● At the conclusion of the event, the best debater speaking FOR and the best debater speaking AGAINST the motion will be declared as the event winners.

Motion: This House believes that India should allocate a larger budget to the ISRO.

If you have penned down secret verses, ballads or serenades in your journal all this while, now is the time to let it fly. This is a battle of wit, words and wrenched rhyme, with the mic as your sword and èclat as your shield!

Words are powerful, they create and destroy. Part oceans and take the thunder, but all this aside, can you thrill our audience and overpower your rivals?
Can you become the next sovereign of stanzas and monarch of mimesis?

If you think you have what it takes to mic drop your way to poetic glory, and sing out your magnum opus, then pull up your socks, and show up at the slam!

At Amity International Literature Festival 2019, we recognise the need of shipping your OTP, writing a slow burn riddled with a whole lot of angst, and delving into the multiverse of fandoms.

At AILF'19, we recognise the needs and wonders of living in a world which you create! We believe in giving you a platform to proudly incorporate all your plots, characters and dialogues and present your world to the world!

It gives us immense pleasure and gratitude to present the inaugural version of Amity International Literature Festival- AILF’19!
The Festival will be held between the 9th to 12th of October, 2019 in Amity University, Noida.

This edition of the fest will feature the following competitions:

1) Conventional Debate: A gruelling session where individuals participate in teams of two and engage in a battle of wit, words, and logic.

2) Fan-Fiction Competition: Based on themed prompts, individuals compete to write the most piquant pieces on their favoured fandoms.

3) Slam Poetry: Entrancing spoken word poetry is presented before a live audience and a panel of judges.

4) Plot Twist: Deviating from the conventional, participants add an unusual twist to popular tales.

5) Story Telling: With a side of rhetoric and improvisation, participants engage in the art of narrating stories to enthral all that attend.

6) Literary Quiz: A collision of the brightest minds, as they compete against others to establish their literary dexterity and dominance.

7) Kavi Samelan: An opportunity for all the budding shayars and kavis to exercise creative expression and to present their work, to an interested audience.

Prolific speakers and researchers from around the globe will be conducting interactive workshops and seminars, exclusively for the student body.

3) How to write creative pieces - By Ms Niharika Gupta (India)

4) Hone your writing skills with Dr Lisa Morgan (USA)

6) Mind your words- By Dr John Bentley (UK)

Apart from premiere prizes, lucky writers with the hope of getting recognised will also be provided with an exclusive opportunity to publish their works with an established publishing house!
