Noida, India: The 19th Global Film Festival Noida 2026 opened on a magnificent note at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City, bringing together eminent representatives from government, cinema, broadcasting, diplomacy, media and the creative industries presented by International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry in association with International Film and Television Club supported by AAFT University.

The festival was formally inaugurated by Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, in the presence of a distinguished international gathering.

Prominent dignitaries attending the grand opening included Gaurav Dwivedi, Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati; T. P. Aggarwal, Patron of the Film Federation of India; Sakshi Mehra, President of the Motion Pictures Association; H.E. Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche, Ambassador of Seychelles; H.E. Abdullah Mohammad A. Welcoming the guests, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder of Noida Film City, President of Marwah Studios and Festival President, described the Global Film Festival Noida as an international movement dedicated to strengthening friendship, cultural understanding and cooperation among nations through cinema. “The 19th edition of the Global Film Festival Noida has been designed to bring the entire world closer through art and culture. We firmly believe in the timeless Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family. Cinema is one of the most powerful instruments for promoting love, peace and unity across borders,” said Dr. Marwah.

He announced that 52 carefully curated events had been planned during the three-day festival, including national and international film screenings, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, book launches, cultural presentations, award ceremonies and interactive sessions with leading members of the film and media fraternity.

Dr. Marwah further stated that the festival seeks to promote Indian cinema internationally while simultaneously providing a prestigious platform for global cinema in India. “The Global Film Festival Noida has earned recognition as one of the world’s most vibrant academic film festivals. It connects filmmakers, students, diplomats, artists, educators and industry leaders on a common platform while creating meaningful opportunities for learning, networking and international collaboration,” he added.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. L. Murugan spoke extensively about the extraordinary growth of India’s media and entertainment industry and its increasing contribution to the country’s economy. He appreciated the passion, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of professionals whose collective efforts have strengthened the sector and enhanced India’s cultural influence worldwide.

The Minister highlighted the growing importance of the Orange Economy, which encompasses cinema, broadcasting, animation, visual effects, gaming, digital media, music, design and other creative industries. He observed that technological innovation and emerging platforms are opening unprecedented opportunities for young talent, content creators and media entrepreneurs.

Dr. Murugan also referred to the expanding global reach of Indian cinema, the successful international projection of Indian stories and the new trends transforming film production, distribution and audience engagement. He encouraged young professionals to embrace innovation while remaining connected to India’s rich cultural heritage.

A special highlight of the inaugural ceremony was the conferment of the prestigious Patronship of the Rashtriya Hindi Cinema Samman—National Hindi Cinema Samman upon Dr. L. Murugan. Dr. Sandeep Marwah presented the honour in recognition of the Minister’s distinguished leadership and commitment to the promotion of Indian cinema, media and culture.

New Delhi: The All India Freedom Fighters Families Association organised a seminar on “Dream of Freedom Fighters and Present Political Scenario,” bringing together members of freedom fighters’ families, distinguished guests, and citizens committed to the progress and development of the nation.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, Marwah Studios, was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the session. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Marwah shared moving experiences from his own family and recalled the difficult circumstances faced by his family during the Partition of India in 1947.

Speaking about the generation that witnessed Partition, Dr. Marwah highlighted the tremendous willpower, courage, resilience and zest for life demonstrated by millions of refugees who were compelled to leave their homes and rebuild their lives after Partition. Despite immense hardships and uncertainty, they worked tirelessly to establish themselves and contribute to the development of a newly independent India.

Dr. Marwah emphasised that the spirit of those who sacrificed and struggled for India’s freedom must continue to inspire the present generation. He said that the dreams of the freedom fighters were not limited to political independence but also included a strong, prosperous, united, educated and self-reliant India.

He urged everyone, particularly the younger generation, to remain committed to hard work, discipline, national unity and constructive nation-building. He called upon citizens to draw inspiration from the courage of the freedom fighters and their families and to work collectively to take India to the next level of growth, development and global leadership.

The seminar provided an important platform to reflect upon the aspirations of India’s freedom fighters, the sacrifices made by their families, and the responsibilities of the present generation in carrying forward the ideals and vision of a progressive nation.

Noida, India: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) has announced the constitution of a new body, ICMEI–BRICS, with the objective of strengthening cultural, creative and people-to-people relations among BRICS nations through the powerful mediums of art, culture, cinema, television, media and education.

The announcement was made by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI and Chair of ICMEI–BRICS, on the auspicious occasion of India hosting the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 under its Presidency and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Board of ICMEI enthusiastically supported the formation of the new body, considering the occasion particularly significant as India hosts the BRICS Summit and plays a leading role in advancing dialogue and cooperation among member nations.

ICMEI–BRICS will work towards promoting film and Literary festivals, cultural exchanges, Fashion Week, media collaborations, educational programmes, artistic delegations, seminars, workshops, joint productions and institutional partnerships among participating countries.

AAFT Organises Special Session on “Cyber Crimes Can Be Prevented with Spiritual Awareness”

Noida : The Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) in association with Rotary E Club of Winter Haven organised a special awareness session on “Cyber Crimes Can Be Prevented with Spiritual Awareness”, bringing together technology, cybersecurity and spiritual wellness to sensitise students about the growing challenges of the digital world.

The session featured Prof. Amit Dubey, Global Cyber Security Expert and Author, and Dr. Meena Mahajan, Spiritual Wellness Expert, who interacted extensively with the students and addressed their questions on cyber safety, digital responsibility, emotional balance and mindful use of technology. The programme was also attended by Tarun Singhal and Anil Ghai, along with faculty members and students of AAFT.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Amit Dubey said, “Cybercrime is no longer limited to technology; it is increasingly connected with human behaviour, emotions and awareness. The best cybersecurity begins with an alert and responsible individual. Students must learn to identify suspicious links, protect their personal information, use strong passwords and think before they click, share or trust anything online.” He further explained that cybercriminals often exploit human emotions such as fear, greed, curiosity and urgency. Developing awareness and self-control can therefore become an important layer of digital protection.

Dr. Meena Mahajan, while speaking on spiritual wellness, said, “Spiritual awareness teaches us mindfulness, self-discipline and the ability to pause before taking an action. In the digital age, these qualities are extremely important. When we are mentally calm and aware, we are less likely to become victims of manipulation, impulsive decisions and online deception.” She emphasised that technology should be used as a tool for growth and knowledge rather than allowing it to control one’s thoughts, emotions and behaviour.

Addressing the students, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder of Noida Film City and Chancellor of AAFT University, said, “Technology has transformed the world, but technology without responsibility can also create serious challenges. Cybersecurity and spiritual awareness may appear to belong to two different worlds, but both ultimately focus on one important principle—awareness. An aware mind is the first line of defence.”

Dr. Marwah further added, “AAFT believes in educating students not only for professional excellence but also for responsible citizenship. Our young people are the creators and users of tomorrow’s digital world. They must be technologically skilled, ethically conscious and mentally strong.”

The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer interaction, during which students raised questions about online fraud, social media safety, cyberbullying, digital privacy, artificial intelligence, phishing and maintaining mental well-being in an increasingly connected world.

The programme provided students with a unique opportunity to understand cybersecurity from both technological and human perspectives, reinforcing the message that awareness, discipline and responsible digital behaviour can play a vital role in preventing cybercrime.

19th Global Film Festival Noida 2026 to Pay Musical Tribute to R.D. Burman, Lata Mangeshkar and Yash Chopra

Noida, India: The 19th Global Film Festival Noida 2026, scheduled from 16th to 18th September 2026 at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City, will pay a special musical tribute to three legendary personalities of the Indian film industry—R.D. Burman, Lata Mangeshkar and Yash Chopra—celebrating their extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema and entertainment.

As part of the three-day festival, specially curated musical programmes will showcase some of the most memorable and popular songs associated with these iconic personalities. The festival will honour legendary music composer R.D. Burman on 16th September, the immortal voice of Indian cinema Lata Mangeshkar on 17th September, and celebrated filmmaker Yash Chopra on 18th September. It is designed by AAFT School of Music.

“These three towering personalities have left an everlasting imprint on Indian cinema. R.D.
