Amity Law School, Centre-II organizes Career Counseling Session for the budding lawyers
Date: 7/22/2014
Law is one of the popular career choices in our country for a long time. A degree in law not only lets you practice as a lawyer in the courts but also opens up career options in different sectors. To familiarize the students of law regarding the several career options in the legal world, Amity Law School Centre-II, Amity University in association with All India Reporter Group organized career counseling session at I-2 Block, Amity University Campus, Sec-125 Noida.

Dr. Aruna Namballa, Vice President – All India Reporter Group; Mr. Atul Singh, General Manager – Strategic Business, All India Reporter Group; Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Singh, Dean – Law, Amity University; Prof. Mamta Srivastava, Addl. Director, Amity Law School – Centre II, Amity University Noida were present to provide guidance and career counseling to the students of Law.

While addressing the students, Dr. Aruna Namballa, Vice President – All India Reporter Group said that usually students choose a career without understanding its benefit either because of family or peer pressure; therefore it is very important to provide counseling to student before and during the course. She further added that law students need to be trained in research activity. Publications of All India Reporter can help them in referring while studying and doing research work. Dr. Namballa emphasized that reading a judgment is very important for any law student. She advised that students should be more trained for mock trials and should go to district courts to learn the basics of court proceedings. Practical training in court also enhances the chance of getting hired by law firms and with senior lawyers. Though most of the law colleges impart practical legal education to final year law students, it is the students who should take an initiative and start visiting court proceedings in the final year to understand the day-to-day affair.

During the occasion, Dr. Aruna Namballa announced the launch of AIR Amity Active Club, a unique initiative from All India Reporter Group exclusively for students of Amity Law School – Centre II. The members of this club will be able to subscribe publications of All India Reporter Group at a discounted rate who will be assisted in getting exclusive articles. The club will also be associated in organizing moot courts and other seminars.

Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Singh, Dean – Law, Amity University said that reading reference journals is very important for any law professional as it makes your mind more analytical. It will also help in presenting the case well by referring to the previous cases. He said that all the articles published in journal of All India Reporter are very important and a ready reference since it publishes cases of High Courts and Supreme Court of India.

Prof. Mamta Srivastava, Addl. Director, Amity Law School – Centre II, Amity University Noida said that Law is a career which requires patience and logical skills. It takes loads of hard work and dedication to become a successful lawyer. Lawyers like other professionals such as doctors and chartered accountants require experience to polish their skills and become valuable for their clients. Candidates determined to succeed in the profession have to be patient in the initial phase of their career. Lawyers are not only respected but also help people in their battle for justice.
