Applications are now open for the 4-Week Summer Internship on “Scientific Programming & Digital Research Skills” to be held from 1st-31st July 2026 in Hybrid Mode (Online & Offline).
This internship is specially designed for UG Students, Integrated Master’s Students, Master’s Students, and other interested learners who want to build practical skills in Python programming, data analysis, scientific visualization, computational problem solving, digital research tools, and scientific report writing. No prior programming knowledge is required.

North Lakhimpur University invites applications for Summer Internship Programmes for UG and PG students under NEP 2020.
The Department of Physics is organizing a 4-Week Summer Internship on “Scientific Programming & Digital Research Skills” from 1st to 31st July 2026 in Hybrid Mode (Online & Offline). The internship will cover Python programming for scientific applications, data analysis and visualization, computational problem solving, digital research tools, and scientific report writing. Undergraduate students, Integrated Master’s students, Master’s students, and other interested learners with basic computer skills can apply. No prior programming knowledge is required.

Department of Physics | Publication Update: As the first batch of PhD research scholars of the Department joins this month, we are happy to announce that the proceedings of the 2nd edition of the National Physics Conference SPARK 2025 are currently being published with Springer in the journal Interactions. Accepted articles are being published online on a rolling basis. The first few papers from the conference are already available online.
This is the second Scopus-indexed publication by the Department of Physics and by North Lakhimpur University overall. The first was the proceedings of the inaugural edition of SPARK, held in 2023, which was published by IOPscience.

Dr. Dipankar Chetia and Dr. Manoranjan Dutta from the Department of Physics are serving as editors of this special issue along with three external editors.

It is a proud moment for the Department of Physics and the North Lakhimpur University that our team, representing Assam, has secured First Position in the Design for Bharat challenge, competing with winners from all States across the country.

The winning team comprises Diksh*ta Chakraborty (Department of Physics) and A***n Kashyap (Department of Electronics). Tomorrow, they will showcase their work before the Honourable Prime Minister of India.

The Department of Physics, North Lakhimpur University, successfully organized the second edition of the biennial national conference “Symposium on Physics: Advances in Research and Knowledge (SPARK 2025)” on October 31 – November 1, 2025.
The conference brought together participants from reputed academic and research institutions across eastern, northern, western, and north-eastern India, creating a vibrant platform for scientific interaction and collaboration.
SPARK 2025 featured six keynote lectures delivered by eminent physicists — Prof. S. N. Pandey (MNNIT Allahabad), Prof. Pabira Natha (Tezpur University), Dr. Shamik Gupta (TIFR), Dr. Prawal J. Phukan (Dibrugarh University), Dr. Bijita Sharma (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany), and Dr. Sayan Bayan (Rajiv Gandhi University).
On the second day, research papers were presented across four thematic tracks in parallel oral sessions, followed by a common poster session. The tracks were: High Energy Physics, Gravitation & Cosmology; Electronics & Photonics, Computational Physics, Applied & Engineering Physics; Material Science & Nanoscience, Quantum Thermodynamics & Statistical Physics; and Astronomy & Astrophysics, Space & Atmospheric Physics, Plasma Physics, Nuclear Physics & Non-linear Dynamics.
Dr. Dipankar Chetia and Dr. Manoranjan Dutta of the Department of Physics, North Lakhimpur University, acted as the Organizing Secretaries of the event.
