In a small village in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, a unique school is quietly changing how girls learn and how farming is seen. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭, founded by Ash*ta and Anish Nath in 2016, is considered India’s first agriculture-focused school for girls, where students learn English, maths and science alongside hands-on farming.
The idea came after the couple noticed two problems in the region: Sruggling agriculture and girls being kept out of education while boys went to school. The school was designed to address both by teaching girls scientific farming practices while also giving them formal education in a safe learning environment.
Spread across farmland with a nursery, seed bank and livestock, the learning here happens directly in the fields. Girls take part in everything from selecting seeds to harvesting crops, gaining skills that can support their families and help keep agriculture viable for the next generation.
