MARG's Institute of Citizenship & Civic Sense Education An institution in research, advocacy, training & education on citizenship, civic sense, social values & road culture. Create informed, assertive citizens.

OVERALL FOCUS : To groom people, especially youth, to conduct themselves with a sense of civic consciousness and responsibility and shoulder the duties of citizenship with a sense of pride and belonging to India and its Constitution. OBJECTIVE: To work with students, youth, women and social groups through education, training, extension activities and motivation for creating a community of citizens



EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
1. Citizen of India, not just a voter
2. Aware of rights and responsibilities
3. Informed of the social and political
4. Concerned about welfare of others
5. Articulate in opinions and arguments
6. Assertive in communities
7. Act responsibly AND as citizen

PROGRAMMES & ACTIVITIES:

Core programme with formal syllabus involving assignment, field work and project. Partner with autonomous institutions of learning to introduce credit courses. Short-term programe designed for different target segments such as teachers, trainers, youth leaders, self-help groups etc. Advocacy with government, Boards of Education and University. Direct intervention at the field level

EVENTS: Lectures/seminars/conferences/workshops

Publication: Books/reports/occasional papers/video films/newsletters/E-materials

Recognitions/awards for institutions and individuals. Establishment and partnerships with CIVIC CLUBS in educational institutions

TEN POINT CHARTER:

1. Unity and good of the nation as the first priority.
2. Abide by the Indian Constitution; respect its institutions and values, the National Flag and National Anthem.
3. Avoid violence of any kind. Promote harmony amongst all people going beyond religious, regional, linguistic diversities.
4. Treat women with respect and as equals.
5. Develop scientific temper, humanism and spirit of inquiry.
6. Attempt to think, question and understand.
7. Commitment:
a)To follow traffic rules and regulations. b)To maintain roads clean. c)To control pollution on roads. d)To add to the beautification of the roads. e)To behave decently on roads. f)To keep the house, streets, villages or towns clean.

8.Protect and assert rights as a citizen. Respect the rights of others.
9. Love for the nation means love for the people, the composite culture and the environment.
10. Promote the culture of liberty, equality and justice in the neighborhood.
