*JSS AHER signs MoU with The University of Newcastle, Australia*

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The University of Newcastle (UoN), New South Wales, Australia, to deepen collaboration in education, research, and innovation.

Signed on Oct 30, 2025 by Dr.Alexandr Voninski, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global), UoN, and Dr. S. P. Dhanabal, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, on behalf of Registrar Dr. B. Manjunatha, the MoU, enables joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, co-publications, curriculum development, and shared academic resources.

The partnership aligns with both universities’ global engagement strategies. Participants reaffirmed institutional commitment to strengthened linkages.

Dr. S. Janakiraman, Consul General, Consulate General of India, Sydney welcomed the collaboration and encouraged JSS AHER to explore opportunities in Australia.

This milestone advances JSS AHER’s internationalization agenda and expands transformative opportunities for students and faculty. The collaboration also anticipates expansion into academic areas of mutual interest in health and technology.

Prof.Dr.Thava Palanisami from the Global Innovative Center for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN), University of Newcastle, and Prof.Dr.K.Gowthamarajan from JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty facilitated the singing ceremony.

JSSCP, Ooty - Glad to share that, the Dept of Pharmacy Practice in association with the Govt. Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Ooty,The Nilgiris, successfully organized an "*Institutional Synergy Meet – 2025"* on Oct 16, 2025 at Hotel Monarch, Ooty. The event aimed to synergize and strengthen academic, research, and outreach collaborations between both institutions for mutual growth and excellence. 👇

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S.P.Dhanabal, Principal, followed by the formal honoring of the guests. Dr.S.Ponnusankar, HoD, Dept of Pharmacy Practice, presented an overview of the college and departmental activities, emphasizing the benefits and achievements arising from institutional collaborations.

The event also featured an inspirational and motivational address on *Power Skills* by Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS AHER, Mysuru.

Distinguished guests Dr. J. Srisaravanan, Dean, and Dr. Ravishankar, Resident Medical Officer, GMCH, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of academic partnerships and interprofessional education.

This meet was graced by the presence of Pro C and Registrar of JSSAHER, along with the Dean, RMO, HoD's of various departments, Senior residents of GMCH, and faculty of JSSCP, Ooty. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. K.P. Arun, Vice Principal, followed by dinner and networking.

The event was a grand success receiving appreciation from the leadership of both institutions and is expected to foster sustained collaborations in education, research, and community outreach in the coming years.

JSSCP, Ooty - Glad to share that, the Dept. of Pharmacology successfully organized an ICMR–DHR sponsored Three-Day National Workshop on “Integrative AI-Driven Pharmacoinformatics and Biostatistical Approaches in Pre-Clinical Research” (Oct 8–10, 2025). 👇

*Highlights* :

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 80 external delegates (maximum capacity) representing 18 institutions across 4 states who attended.

Nine expert lectures were delivered by eminent researchers and academicians from reputed institutions.

Participants gained hands-on experience in AI-based pharmacoinformatics, PK/PD modeling, biostatistical analysis, and network pharmacology integration.

The program provided an excellent platform for participants to enhance their technical competencies in computational and preclinical research methodologies.

JSSCP, Ooty - Celebrated " *World Pharmacists Day* " on Sep 25, 2025, with a vibrant blend of academic, professional, and student-centric initiatives.

*Highlights of the Day*

i) "*Continuing Pharmacy Education"* (CPE) Program organized by the Dept of Pharmacy Practice, in collaboration with the IPA Nilgiris Branch. The program was graced by Dr. Tamizhmozhi, Registrar, Tamil Nadu State Pharmacy Council, as the Chief Guest, who addressed practicing pharmacists and enriched the academic proceedings.

ii) Demonstrating their professional spirit, students came together to form a human chain symbolizing the “ *Symbol of Pharmacy*” on the college grounds - an inspiring representation of unity, service, and commitment to the profession.

iii) In line with the institution’s commitment to student welfare, an "*Education Loan Mela"* was jointly organized with the District Administration, featuring the active participation of 13 leading banks from Ooty. The event offered on-the-spot account openings and same-day education loan sanctions. A proud moment was witnessed as 15 student beneficiaries received their education loan cheques, presented by the Chief Managers of the participating banks.

The celebrations concluded on a note of fellowship with refreshments for students and a grand luncheon for all faculty and staff, making the day a memorable confluence of academic enrichment, professional pride, and student empowerment.

JSSCP, Ooty -The District-level " *Chief Minister’s Trophy Games 2025-26* " were conducted from Aug 25 to Sep10, 2025, across multiple venues in the Nilgiris District, featuring competitions among various colleges and associations.

About 200 students actively participated in a wide range of sports viz., Cricket, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basketball, Shuttle Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, Football, Silambam, Handball, and Athletics.

Elated to share that our college team secured 15 medals along with the cash prize of Rs. 2.10 Lakhs as below :

1st position : 5
2nd position : 6
3rd position : 4

The selected students will advance to the state level. This highlights the strong sportive culture, pursuits and outstanding achievements of our students.

Good morning.

Hearty Congratulations to Dept. of Pharmacology, Dept if Pharmacy Practice and IPA Nilgiris Local Branch for having celebrated "National Pharmacology Day 2025" on the occasion of birth anniversary of Col. Ramanath Chopra held yesterday, Aug 18, 2025, over an essay writing competition on the topic "Rational Use of Drugs."

JSSCP, Ooty - The Industry Institution Inreraction Cell successfully completed an interactive session on "Quality and Regulatory aspects of Medical Devices in India and US" with Mr.U.Sivakumar, Sr. Manager QA & RA, SMC Medical Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd, Bangalire (a medical device industry ranked 12th in the Top 25 MedTech companies by Healthcare Technology Report and Top 75 award by CII) on Aug 14 2025.

Outcome :

The I M Pharm students of Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs attended.

This session covered the whole aspect of assuring quality in an industry, basics of GMP, various sections of industry, flow of personnel movement, safety protocols and procedures to be followed, regulatory basics for developed formulatios, document filing, marketing strategy and customer trajectory.

The five golden rules of a Pharma industry viz., facility, equipment, raw material, process and control contamination, was the best takeaway for students.
