About Commerce Forum
Commerce Forum is an association/platform for the students of commerce. All faculty members from the Department of Commerce, Research Scholars, and B.Com and M.Com students are its members. Purpose
• Improve leadership qualities among students.
• Impart soft skills like organising skills, communication skills etc in students to equip them to face competition in their career
.
• Provide opportunity to students to interact with industrialists, academicians and eminent personalities from public sphere.
• To inculcate entrepreneurial culture among students.
• Helping students through ‘Student Self Support Scheme’ (SSSS) and inculcate social commitment in them.
• Providing financial assistance to needy students in the form of Books and other study materials at subsidised rate. The Executive
Elected representatives from all classes constitute its student executive and its President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer are selected from the executive. Its tenure is for one year. Activities
Every year the forum’s activities are formally inaugurated by persons of high reputation and a valedictory meeting is arranged to recognise the achievers and to plan for the future. Some activities organised by commerce forum are mentioned below:
• ComArena- it is started as an inter-collegiate commerce fest in 2007. Its VI edition was held in 19 Jan 2013 as a South Indian Commerce and Management fest with a massive participation of more than 450 students from Kerala and Karnataka. We gave away prize money of Rs.88,000/-(plus certificates and trophy/medal) to winners in its 6 competitive events.
• Group Discussion/Interview training- for improving soft skills of our students commerce forum conducts GD training camps and mock interviews
• Business Quiz- Department level business quizzes are conducted every month to promote quizzing habit among students. It helps them to win fabulous prizes in other inter collegiate fests and improves their knowledge.
• Onam/ Xmas Celebrations- of the department are organised by the commerce forum to memorise cherished values and to build team spirit.
• Seminars/Workshops/Industry interaction/ alumni interaction/ Visits to Banks-Share market / cultural competitions/ commerce night etc.
