The association is a non-political organization of the teachers of college of Veterinary and Animal Sciences primarily concerned with professional, social, cultural and moral upliftment of the teachers working in the field of veterinary and animal sciences in CSKHPKV, Palampur. The details regarding the governance of this association are as under:-

2.Head-quarter: The headquarter of the association will be as College of
of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, CSK HPKV, Palampur, Distt. Kangra, (H.P.)-176062

3.Date of formation of association: 11th January, 1993.
4.Definitions: As regard the terms used:
a.College: Means Dr. GC Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Palampur, H.P. c.Association : Means, Veterinary & Animal Sciences Teachers association (VASTA), HPKV. d.Teachers’ means faculty members of this University actively engaged in teaching, research and extension activities in the fields of veterinary and animal sciences.
5. To strive to improve the teaching research and extension efficiency of members of the association. To strengthen professional brotherhood amongst the members. To work for the welfare of the teachers and their professional upliftment. To act as custodian for the rights of the teachers. To strive for maintenance of becter teacher-taught relationship. To seek justice against discrimination, oppression, and exploitation of the members through democratic means. To secure better service conditions for the members.
6. The membership will be open to all the teachers/scientists working in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of CSKHPKV. The teachers to be enrolled as the members of the association and required to apply on a prescribed form after payment of requisite membership fees, which is to be renewed annually failing which he/she ceases to be the member of the association.

Dr Mandeep Sharma, joined as New Dean of DGCN College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, CSK HPKV Palampur.

Autobiography of Dr Mandeep
Dr. Mandeep Sharma comes from a rural background of Himachal Pradesh. He is a graduate of veterinary science and animal husbandry and M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. in the discipline of Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology from Mathura Veterinary College, UP, India. He has been recipient of the university merit scholarship during his UG programme and the prestigious JRF of Indian Council of Agricultural Research for his masters. He also got an opportunity to work as postdoctoral fellow in USDA lab in Ames, Iowa, USA after being chosen under very competitive ‘brilliant opportunities for young scientists in chosen areas of science and technology- BOYSCAST’ fellowship scheme of Government of India and worked on methods for molecular detection of chlamydiae and its pathogenesis and pathogenicity.
Dr. Mandeep Sharma joined the faculty of Veterinary College, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh as an Assistant Professor in September, 1989. Since then apart from teaching veterinary microbiology to UG and PG veterinary students, he has been associated with ex*****on of 17 externally funded research projects both as PI and Co-Investigator. He is now a Professor of Veterinary Microbiology and also the Head of Department of Veterinary Microbiology for the last more than 11 years. Further, he has successfully accomplished the additional responsibilities of Associate Director of Research and Nodal Officer- National Agricultural Innovation Project cell of the University. As a nodal officer-NAIP, he handled and facilitated the ex*****on of many research proposals worth Rs. ~15 crore belonging to agriculture, veterinary, home science and basic science colleges. Currently, he is Principal Investigator of three research proposals running in the department. He has guided three Ph.D. students and 17 M.V.Sc. students in veterinary microbiology and immunology and has been in the advisory committee of over 50 students in the university. He has more than 150 research publications to his credit both in national and international journals, a book and few book chapters.
During a span of more than 27 years as an academician, researcher and infectious animal disease expert including zoonoses, he has been selected by the Indian Society of Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology for Mid-Career Scientist Award and ISVIB Scientist award. Also, he has been honored as a Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences and Fellow of Indian society of Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology. Dr. Mandeep Sharma has organized professional events like seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, trainings and review meets as part of his professional obligation and commitment. Also, he has been in many committees as chair or member including Academic Council of the University and Board of Studies of the College. Recently, he has been nominated as a Member of University Court of JNU, New Delhi and elected as member governing council, National Academy of Veterinary Sciences for a period of three years. He has been awarded with several national and international awards and honours.
Also, Dr. Mandeep Sharma visited USA, UK, France, Cyprus, Pakistan, Israel, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia in connection with his professional commitments.

"Himsamridhi"- a poultry variety developed under ICAR-AICRP by the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding, Veterinary College, Palampur for the farmers practising backyard poultry in Himachal Pradesh and adjoining hill regions has been formally released today. These birds are observed as highly suitable for rearing as egg type birds under backyard poultry production system. The layer birds have early maturity, good egg production, brown egg shell, large egg size, high adaptability and disease resistance in local agroclimatic conditions...Many congratulations to the team..... A Gaddi goat farmer associated with CSKHPAU gets a National Award:Shri Karam Chand, associated with on-going Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) funded project in CSK H.P. Agriculture University, has been was awarded with “Breed Saviour Award-2016” at ICAR – National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources(NBAGR), Karnal. The award comprising Rs. Ten thousand and a citation was given by Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General, ICAR.
“All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Goat Improvement” is operational in the Department of Animal Genetics & Breeding, Dr G.C.Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (COVAS) of the university for the last six years. Sh. Karam Chand from Bringati Deol village in Chamba district has been selected for this award for his breed conservation work. He belongs to tribal gaddi community and is maintaining a pure bred flock of 389 gaddi goats. Ever since his association in the AICRP projects since last six years, his flock size has increased from 275 to 389 and birth weight of kids from 2.70 to 3.03 Kg and 9 month body weight 21.65 to 24.02 kg. along with a significant improvement in kid survival rate and decrease in mortality rate. All these could be attributed to the scientific breeding, feeding and management inputs being advised and provided to the farmer from time to time under the project. The farmer is now earning Rs. 4 to 5 lakh per year through various goat farming activities
Prof A.K. Sarial, Vice-Chancellor, has congratulated the farmer as the commendable work of the university has been appreciated at the national level. He has also complimented Dr. P. K. Dogra, Principal Investigator of the project and his team comprising Drs. Varun, Parveen, Pankaj and Ankur for this achievement. He has urged them to continue the good work for the benefit of tribal gaddi community as this award to the university client would inspire other livestock keepers to come forward for conservation of different livestock breeds of the state.
