Clinical competence is built through structured learning, observation, and continuous assessment.

The MD Part I Preliminary Examination at MLDMHI, Palghar provides postgraduate residents with an opportunity to demonstrate their clinical competencies through Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations and bedside clinical assessment.

The examination evaluates multiple aspects of postgraduate training, including history taking, clinical examination, interpretation of investigations, communication skills, clinical reasoning, professional attitude, and patient-centred care.

Rather than assessing theoretical knowledge alone, the examination focuses on how residents apply their learning in real clinical situations with confidence, systematic thinking, and professionalism.

This glimpse into the assessment process reflects the principles of competency-based medical education, where developing safe, ethical, and capable clinicians remains the central objective.
