Goa University successfully hosted and culminated BELC India 2026, a prestigious International French Teachers’ Training programme held from 25th to 29th May 2026 at the Goa Business School campus.

Jointly organised by France Éducation Internationale (FEI), the French Embassy in India, and the French Institute in India (IFI), this landmark regional edition brought together 142 educators from seven nations, including India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Vietnam.

In observance of World Environment Day 2026 under the Mission LiFE Initiative, Goa University organised an invited lecture on “Tigers: A Key Focus in Climate Change” on 5th June 2026 at the VRPP Hall.

The session was delivered by Mr. Vitthal Babal Shelke, recipient of the Biodiversity Enthusiast Award 2023 (Goa State Biodiversity Board), dedicated educator and environmentalist.

The lecture highlighted Goa's rich biodiversity and the ancestral role of local communities in conservation. Mr. Shelke emphasized the vital link between climate regulation and protecting apex predators like tigers to maintain global ecological balance.

Goa University, under the Mission LiFE Initiative and to celebrate World Environment Day 2026, organized a Plantation Drive on 5th June 2026 near the new building of the School of Physical and Applied Sciences.

This green initiative was conducted in the esteemed presence of Prof. Harilal B. Menon, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Goa University and Prof. Sunder Dhuri, Registrar, Goa University. Demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental conservation, the community actively participated in planting more than 60 saplings of diverse plant species.

Goa University takes immense pride in announcing the formal launch of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao: Evaluation of the Social Impact of the Scheme in Goa', authored by our very own Prof. Aparna Lolayekar, Professor of Economics, Goa Business School.

The book was officially released by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of India, at the 58th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) in New Delhi on 12th May 2026.

Published by ICSSR through Macmillan Education, this research was notably selected as one of just five publications nationwide to be launched at this prestigious platform, highlighting the exceptional standard of academic research fostered at Goa University.
