Workshop on Soft Skill on English grammar at Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law

Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel hosted a Workshop on soft skill on English grammar for law students on October 24, 2024, in the seminar hall. The workshop was Organized by Asst. Prof. Mrs. Ravnish Bector under the guidance of In-charge Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh.

The workshop was hosted by Vaidehi Ware, B.A. LL.B. !st year student welcoming all the participant students and everyone present in the seminar hall.

The seminar started with the National Anthem, followed by the introduction of the esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Usha More Ma'am, by Assistant Professor Raghav Sharma. The Guest speaker was felicitated by Asst. Prof. Sangram Pawar and Asst. Prof. Raghav Sharma.

Usha Ma'am delivered an insightful presentation, focusing on the crucial concepts of grammar such as direct and indirect speech, active and passive voice, and degrees of comparison, essential for effective communication in the legal field.

Students participated actively throughout the session, and to reinforce their learning, worksheets were distributed for practical application of the concepts discussed. This interactive element allowed students to engage with the material and solidify their understanding.

The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Shubham Chaubey, in the presence of Mrs. Dhanashri Kadam, B.A. LL.B. Coordinator, expressing gratitude to Usha Ma'am for her valuable insights and to all attendees for their participation. The event ended on a patriotic note with the rendition of the national song.

This Skills Workshop not only enhanced the students' understanding of essential communication techniques but also fostered a spirit of solidarity among future legal professionals at the college.

On 15th October 2024, the Alumni Association of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, Under the Guidance of I/C Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh and B.A. LL.B. Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dhanashri Yogesh Kadam organized a special lecture on the emerging and significant topic of "E-Contracts". This lecture was aimed at providing students with an in-depth understanding of the formation, concepts, and legal implications of electronic contracts, which have become increasingly relevant in today's digital world.

The session was conducted by our distinguished alumnus, Adv. Rohit Banerjee, a practicing advocate with expertise in contract law and digital transactions. He shared his knowledge on the various aspects of e-contracts, including their enforceability, formation, and legal challenges, engaging the students in an enriching discussion on the importance of adapting to the legal complexities brought forth by technology.

The lecture was held in the College Seminar Hall from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and was attended by enthusiastic students, especially the 3rd-year B.A. LL.B. batch, for whom attendance was mandatory.
Adv. Rohit Banerjee was felicitated with a sapling as a token of appreciation, which was presented by Asst. Prof. Dhanashri Yogesh Kadam, the B.A. LL.B. Coordinator. The event was a resounding success and was organized under the esteemed guidance of Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh and Asst. Prof. Dhanashri Yogesh Kadam.

On October 22, 2024, the Green Club in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, successfully organized a documentary screening in support of the ABVP initiative for the development and environmental protection of the Konkan Region. The initiative aims to raise awareness and rally support for sustainable development efforts through a rally from Sawantwadi to Thane.

The documentary was screened at the main gate of the college on an LED screen at 10:15 AM. The short documentary, spanning approximately 10 minutes, provided crucial insights into the challenges faced by the Konkan region in terms of environmental degradation and highlighted the importance of taking collective action for its protection and development.
This initiative was part of the Green Club’s ongoing efforts to engage students in meaningful causes related to environmental conservation and sustainability. By collaborating with the NSS Unit, the program also focused on encouraging students to be more socially responsible.

The NSS Program Officer, Asst. Prof. Raghav Sharma, along with Green Club in charge, Asst. Prof. Neha Kachi, emphasized the importance of consistent involvement in such activities. Students were encouraged to participate in future environmental and social outreach programs organized by the college.

The documentary screening was a success, fulfilling its objective of educating and engaging the students about the environmental challenges in the Konkan region and promoting a sense of responsibility toward the protection of our natural resources. On October 15, 2024, Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law hosted an enlightening Orientation Programme for the Department of Lifelong Learning Extension (DLLE). The event was designed to introduce students to the importance of daily projects and to guide them through the enrolment process for the department.

The programme was organized by Mr. Sangram Pawar, the DLLE Committee In-Charge, under the supervision of In-Charge Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh. It featured key speakers Dr. B.S. Patil, Field Coordinator of DLLE, and Assistant Professor Haribhau Kharat, who served as chief guests.

Dr. Patil and Professor Kharat addressed the students, highlighting the vital role that daily projects play in enhancing academic development. They stressed that consistent engagement in project work not only boosts research skills but also fosters critical thinking and effective time management. Both emphasized that successful completion of these projects would positively impact students' overall academic performance, culminating in marks allocation at the end of the academic year.

Professor Kharat provided an overview of the various projects that students are expected to undertake. He explained how these activities would deepen their understanding of legal concepts and their practical applications in real-world scenarios. Additionally, he elaborated on the enrollment process for the DLLE, detailing the necessary steps and documentation required for students interested in joining the program.

The orientation programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged actively with the speakers. They asked insightful questions and sought clarification on various aspects of the projects, demonstrating a keen interest in enhancing their learning experiences. The event was anchored by Mrunal Patekar and Disha Dhone 3rd Year BALLB.

The Examination Committee and Library Committee of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized orientation program on 11th October, 2024, in the Seminar Hall. The event, led by Examination committee Internal exam-in charge Ass. Prof. Anam Mehandikar, member Mrs. Amita Thakur and the Librarian Ms. Janhavi Bhoir and guided by In-charge Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh.
Examination Committee members guided students about various aspects like Examination Pattern: 75% External, 25%, Internal Examination Form Filling Procedure and Deadlines, Examination Time Table and Schedule, Hall Ticket Information and Collection Procedure, Previous Application Submission Guidelines and Deadlines Clarified doubts on examination form filling and submission, Emphasized importance of meeting deadlines, Provided detailed explanation of examination pattern and assessment structure, Distributed handouts with key information and timelines the session also addressed student queries during Q&A session. The examination orientation session successfully informed students about clear understanding of examination and essential examination details.
The next session which was regarding Library Orientation Programme was handed over to Ms. Janhavi Bhoir, Librarian of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel. Ms. Janhavi Bhoir gave information of the different important services of the library to the students such as Book Bank Facility, E-Library, Legal Databases Access, Scanned Question Papers Access, Library OPAC, Library Website, etc. With Live Demo, Ms. Janahvi showed the Library Website page, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) in which students can search list of books which our Library holds.
Both the sessions kept the students enthralled as they listened with deep concentration and could connect themselves with the examples cited by the speakers. The seminar was attended by a large gathering of students from B.A., LL.B. (5 Years) and LL.B. (3 Years) as well.
The orientation program organized by the Examination and Library Committees of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law was highly informative and successful. The sessions effectively clarified key aspects of the examination process and familiarized students with the wide range of library services available to them. The positive student response and active participation underscored the program’s success in enhancing their understanding of both examination and library resources.

The Cultural Committee organised a ‘Rhythmic Raas 2024-25’ at Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law. The event brought together students and faculty for an evening filled with vibrant music, energetic dance, and a sense of unity. The event began with a heartfelt Durga Pooja, paying homage to the goddess and marking the auspicious start to the festivities. Students and faculty gathered in a spirit of devotion, lighting diyas and offering prayers, which set a reverent tone for the evening that followed. After the pooja, the atmosphere transformed into one of vibrant joy as participants prepared for a night filled with music and dance.

The ambiance was enhanced with string lights and vibrant rangoli designs that adorned the entrance, setting the tone for the festivities. The enthusiasm in the air was palpable as participant’s donned colorful traditional attire, including chaniya choli and kurtas, making the evening even more special. The event kicked off with a live performance by the college’s music club, who played a mix of traditional Garba songs and popular Bollywood numbers. The infectious beats of dhol and the melodious tunes created an electrifying atmosphere, encouraging everyone to join in. A professional DJ later took the stage, spinning a mix of classic Garba tracks and contemporary hits that kept the energy levels high throughout the night.

At the end of the night, prizes were awarded to celebrate outstanding contributions. The title of ‘Best Performer (Male)’ was awarded to Parth Nazare, student of 5th yr BA. LLB and ‘Best Performer (Female)’ was awarded to Diljyot Kaur, student of 1st Yr BA. LLB and Shravani Mokal, student of 2nd yr BA. LLB for their dance moves. Additionally, ‘Best Attire (Male)’ award went to Humanshu Meshram, student of 2nd yr LLB and ‘Best Attire (Female)’ award went to Chaitrali Kane, student of 4th yr BA. LLB who stood out for their stunning traditional outfits that truly embodied the spirit of Garba. The recipients received certificates and small trophies, adding to the festive spirit.

The event was a celebration of culture, community, and camaraderie which successfully brought together students from diverse backgrounds, fostering connections and friendships. The event held to be a great success with lots of fun, music and dance.
