Multani Mal Modi College, adorning the cultural city of Patiala, is synonymous with academic excellence. Located in the heart of the city, Multani Mal Modi College is a multi-faculty, co-educational Post Graduate institution established by Padam Bhu

shan, Rai Bahadur Seth Gujjar Mal Modi, in the fond memory of his illustrious father, Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Dr. Dharam Vir, ICS, the then Governor of Punjab on Sept 21, 1966 and the first academic session commenced in July 1967. Recently, the College has been placed 5th among Science and 7th among Commerce colleges in Northern India by The Tribune in its survey 'Guide to Best Colleges' (18.4.2014). The magnanimous and enlightened Managing Committee of the college is headed by its visionary Chairman Seth Sudarshan Kumar Modi, who is firmly committed to fulfilling the dreams and ideals of his illustrious grandfather. The College offers UG courses in Commerce, Humanities, Sciences, Computer Science, Business Management and Post Graduate Courses in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Commerce, Mathematics, IT, Fashion Design and Technology, PGDCA and PG Diploma in Dress Designing and Tailoring. UGC sponsored Add on Courses in Spoken English, Journalism and Mass Communication and Computerized Accounting are also offered. Besides these courses Finishing School Programme that is an exclusively in-house-developed course and aims to enhance the employability quotient of the out-going students is also being started. The college has established itself as a leading educational institution with the student strength of about 3500. The old students of the college - Modiites - occupy positions of eminence in all walks of life which include academicians, doctors, engineers, administrators, scientists, sportspersons, soldiers, artists, social reformers and politicians. In recognition of the all round achievements of the college the UGC has conferred the status of 'College with Potential for Excellence' on the College. The College has made marvellous achievements in academics as well as in sports. This year the college students got 30 Merit positions in University Examinations, including 4 Gold Medals. The College bagged Punjabi University Inter College Overall Sports Championship (Men) for 4 years consecutively and (Women) for two years. Apart from these, advanced research facilities are also available and are being used by the staff and the students. Dr. Heena Sachdeva and Dr. Manish Sharma of MM Modi College Secure Design Patent for Innovative Insect Display System

Dr. Heena Sachdeva and Dr. Manish Sharma, Assistant Professors in the Department of Zoology at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, have been granted a Design Patent by the Patent Office, Government of India, for their innovative creation titled “Automated Rotating Insect Display Cabinet for Museums and Research.” The patented design is aimed at improving the display, preservation, and examination of insect specimens in museums, educational institutions, and research laboratories through an automated rotating mechanism that enhances specimen visibility and accessibility.
Congratulating the inventors on this significant achievement, Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal expressed pride in the accomplishment and described it as a reflection of the college's commitment to research, innovation, and academic excellence. He stated that the recognition accorded by the Patent Office, Government of India, acknowledges the originality and practical utility of the invention and brings laurels to the institution. Dr. Goyal also appreciated the dedication, hard work, and innovative spirit of Dr. Heena Sachdeva and Dr. Manish Sharma in achieving this distinction.

Multani Mal Modi College Signed MoUs for International Programs

In a significant step towards strengthening professional education and enhancing career opportunities for commerce students, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QualityNZ to offer the globally recognized Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification alongside the BCom programme.

Under this collaboration, BCom students can pursue ACCA simultaneously with their degree. A major advantage of the programme is that students will receive exemptions in 6 ACCA papers, reducing the number of papers they need to clear to 7. While the ACCA qualification generally costs around ₹6.5 lakh when pursued independently, Modi College is facilitating the programme at an approximate cost of ₹2.5 lakh, making it significantly more affordable and accessible.

The college has also signed an MoU for the Institute of Management Accountants Certified Management Accountant (CMA) programme, enabling students to pursue CMA alongside their BCom degree. The CMA programme, which typically costs around ₹1.8 lakh when undertaken independently, is being offered through the college at an approximate cost of ₹1.2 lakh.

These initiatives reflect the college’s commitment to providing industry-oriented education and globally recognized professional qualifications. The programmes are expected to equip students with advanced accounting, finance, and management skills, thereby enhancing their employability and career prospects in India and abroad.

ਇਸ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਅਧੀਨ ਬੀ.ਕਾਮ. ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ACCA ਕੋਰਸ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ACCA ਦੇ 6 ਪੇਪਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੋਟ (Exemption) ਮਿਲੇਗੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 7 ਪੇਪਰ ਹੀ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਨੇ ਪੈਣਗੇ। ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ACCA ਕੋਰਸ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕਰਨ ‘ਤੇ ਲਗਭਗ 6.5 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਖਰਚਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਕੋਰਸ ਲਗਭਗ 2.5 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਕਿਫ਼ਾਇਤੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ ਆਫ਼ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਅਕਾਊਂਟੈਂਟਸ ਦੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਾਈਡ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਅਕਾਊਂਟੈਂਟ (CMA) ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਪੱਤਰ ਸਾਈਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੀ.ਕਾਮ. ਡਿਗਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ CMA ਕੋਰਸ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ। ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ CMA ਕੋਰਸ ਦਾ ਖਰਚਾ ਲਗਭਗ 1.8 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਕੋਰਸ ਲਗਭਗ 1.2 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਉਦਯੋਗ-ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਯੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੇਖਾ-ਜੋਖਾ (Accounting), ਵਿੱਤ (Finance) ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ (Management) ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਉੱਚ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

ਵਿੱਤ, ਅਕਾਊਂਟਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਇੱਛੁਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉਠਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

World Environment Day Celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and a commitment to environmental sustainability in collaboration with Punjab Gramin Bank. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal appreciated the collaborative efforts of NABARD and Punjab Gramin Bank and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship among the youth. He encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute actively towards building a cleaner and greener future.

The event featured a tree plantation drive on the college campus, where students, faculty members, and guests actively participated in planting saplings to promote environmental conservation and enhance the green cover of the institution. As part of the celebration, eco-friendly jute bags were distributed among students and staff to encourage the reduction of plastic usage and promote sustainable lifestyle choices. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastics and the need to adopt environmentally responsible alternatives.

The programme was graced by distinguished representatives from NABARD and Punjab Gramin Bank, including Sh. Rahul Malik, Assistant Manager, NABARD, Sh. Rahul Patidar, Assistant Manager, NABARD, Sh. ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਓ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਚਲਾਈ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ, ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਲਗਾਏ। ਇਸ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਦੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੂਟ ਦੇ ਥੈਲੇ ਵੀ ਵੰਡੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸ਼ੈਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਇਸ ਪਹਿਲ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਦੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਨਦਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਫੈਲਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ-ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਵਿਕਲਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।

Report on Awareness Drive on Household Waste Management under Mission Clean Patiala

The Eco Club of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized an awareness drive on household waste management in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the District Administration under the “Mission Clean Patiala” initiative launched by PPCB. The drive witnessed active participation from volunteers of NSS, Youth Red Cross, and NCC, along with college students. The awareness campaign was conducted for residents of areas surrounding the college and Budha Dal Public School with the objective of educating the community about proper household waste management practices, waste segregation, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal of the college, motivated the students and appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that cleanliness and responsible waste management are continuous responsibilities essential for building a healthy and sustainable society. He encouraged students and residents to adopt environmentally responsible practices and actively contribute towards maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
Officials from the PPCB delivered insightful messages during the event. Sh. Dhruv Suri, Senior Fellow, emphasized the need for proper household waste management and creating awareness regarding environmental pollution, while Dr. Gurshagan Kandhola, Senior Fellow, highlighted the role of youth in promoting sustainable practices such as waste segregation at source, composting, and reducing plastic usage. Both officials appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to act as responsible citizens and environmental ambassadors.
Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Supervisor of the college for Mission Clean Patiala, played a key role in coordinating the activity. Dr. Manish Sharma and Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, ANO of NCC Girls Unit, remained present with the students during the drive and encouraged them to actively participate in spreading awareness among community members.
The event also received support from Municipal Corporation Patiala. S. Inderjit Singh (Sanitary Inspector), Mr. Manish Daroga, and CF Ms. Mohinderjit Kaur extended external support for the successful conduct of the programme. Motivators Mr. Natish and Mr. Yosaf accompanied the students during the drive and actively assisted in conducting awareness activities among the residents.
Traffic police and other police personnel also provided valuable support by ensuring the smooth movement of traffic and maintaining safety during the awareness campaign. S. Puneet Singh Chahal, DSP, Punjab Police, extended cooperation by deputing traffic personnel, which contributed significantly to the smooth and successful conduct of the drive.
The drive proved to be a meaningful initiative towards promoting awareness regarding household waste management, environmental sustainability, and community responsibility among students and residents of the area.

Awareness Drive on Waste Segregation & Hygiene Practices

The Eco Club of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, in collaboration with NCC, NSS, and Youth Red Cross units, organized an Awareness Drive under Mission Clean Patiala launched by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) in association with the District Administration. The drive aimed to educate street vendors and shopkeepers about the importance of waste segregation and hygienic practices for a cleaner environment.
Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal lauded the initiative and emphasized that such outreach activities play a vital role in bridging the gap between academic learning and social responsibility. He motivated the students to become ambassadors of cleanliness and hygiene, urging them to carry forward the message of sustainable living in their daily lives. He further highlighted that collective efforts by educational institutions and civic bodies are essential for building a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible society.
The event received valuable support and encouragement from Sh. Dhruv Suri and Dr. Gurshagan Kandhola, who lauded the initiative and highlighted the need for collective responsibility towards environmental cleanliness.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, College Supervisor for Mission Clean Patiala. NCC students were actively motivated by Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, ANO NCC Boys Unit, and Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, ANO NCC Girls Unit, to participate enthusiastically in the campaign.

Modi College, Patiala honoured by District Red Cross Society on World Red Cross Day, 2026.

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, received honour and recognition during the World Red Cross Day Celebration 2026 organized by the Indian Red Cross Society on 8 May 2026 at the Red Cross District Disability Rehabilitation Centre. The programme was organized to promote the global theme “United in Humanity” and to acknowledge the valuable contribution of individuals associated with social service and humanitarian activities.

Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, attended the programme as an invited guest and was honoured by the District Red Cross Society for his continuous encouragement and support towards educational, social, and community welfare activities carried out by the institution. Under his leadership, the college has actively promoted values of discipline, service, and holistic development among students.

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਸ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਭਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਯੂਥ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਦੀ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਡਾ. ਹੀਨਾ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਧੀ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਇਹ ਮਾਣ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

Report on Cleanliness Drive under Mission Clean Patiala

The Eco Club of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a cleanliness drive in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the District Administration under the “Mission Clean Patiala” initiative launched by PPCB.
The drive witnessed active participation from volunteers of NSS, Youth Red Cross, and NCC, along with college students. The cleanliness campaign commenced from the college gate and continued up to Budha Dal Public School Chowk, covering a significant stretch of the locality. Municipal Corporation officials, sanitation workers, and volunteers worked collectively to ensure effective cleaning of the area.
Dr Neeraj Goyal, Principal of the college addressed the gathering and emphasized that cleanliness is a continuous responsibility and an essential part of a healthy and sustainable society. He highlighted the importance of individual and collective efforts in maintaining hygiene and urged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. He also appreciated the collaborative spirit of various departments and agencies in making the initiative successful.
Officials from the Punjab Pollution Control Board delivered insightful messages during the event. Sh. Dhruv Suri emphasized the need for proper waste management and awareness regarding environmental pollution, while Dr Gurshagan Kandhola highlighted the role of youth in promoting sustainable practices such as waste segregation and reduction of plastic usage. Both officials appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to act as responsible citizens.
Dr Kuldeep Kumar, Supervisor of the college for Mission Clean Patiala, played a key role in coordinating the activity. The activity was further supported by the presence of Dr Varun Jain, Dr Manish Sharma and Dr Heena Sachdeva, In Charge, college Youth Red Cross. Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, ANO of NCC Girls Unit, encouraged the students to actively participate in the drive.
S. Inderjeet Singh, Sanitary Inspector, Sh. Kuldeep Ratta, and Sh. Manish Daroga, from Municipal Corporation Patiala, motivated the students and contributed to the successful ex*****on of the activity.
Traffic police and other police personnel provided valuable support by managing traffic and ensuring the safety of participants during the drive. S. Puneet Singh Chahal, DSP, Punjab Police, extended support by deputing traffic personnel for traffic control, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the activity.
The drive proved to be a meaningful step towards promoting awareness about cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and community responsibility among students and the general public.

The Youth Red Cross Unit organized a door-to-door awareness campaign along with the distribution of hygiene kits

The Youth Red Cross Unit of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, organized a door-to-door awareness campaign focusing on the vital role of proper hand hygiene and essential cleanliness practices in preventing diseases, along with the distribution of hygiene kits to mark World Health Day. The initiative aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining clean hands and adopting basic hygiene practices, especially among domestic workers, who often have limited access to health education and resources.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, emphasized that proper hand hygiene is one of the most important measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. He highlighted that many communicable illnesses can be significantly reduced through regular and correct handwashing practices. He further stated that awareness about the importance of clean hands must reach every household, as it forms the foundation of a healthy and disease-free society. He appreciated the efforts of the Youth Red Cross Unit and reiterated that Multani Mal Modi College actively encourages such socially relevant outreach activities that promote public health awareness and community well-being.
The campaign was organized and conducted by Youth Red Cross Unit programme officer Dr. Heena Sachdeva, who personally visited nearby residential areas and interacted with house help. She sensitized them about the importance of effective hand cleansing and the direct role of clean hands in reducing disease transmission. As part of the initiative, hygiene kits containing liquid hand cleansers along with refill packs were distributed amongst 30 beneficiaries to encourage sustained use and to reinforce the habit of maintaining clean hands in daily life.
Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dean, Life Sciences, appreciated the initiative and stated that such programs are essential in bridging the gap between awareness and practice. He emphasized that promoting proper hand hygiene among underserved communities can significantly reduce disease burden and improve overall public health.
The campaign concluded successfully, creating a meaningful impact by reinforcing the message that simple practices like regular handwashing can play a powerful role in disease prevention, while also highlighting the institution’s commitment to community outreach and social responsibility.

Modi College Students Excel at National Drama Competition in Delhi

Students of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, Punjab, proudly participated in a prestigious national drama competition organized by the Shakespeare Society of India in collaboration with the University of Delhi. The event was held on 23rd April at the SP Jain Auditorium, South Campus, Delhi and witnessed enthusiastic participation from theatre teams across the country.
A team of 13 students from various courses represented the college under the direction of Prof. Gaganpreet Kaur. Showcasing their talent, dedication, and passion for dramatic arts, the students competed at a national level with remarkable confidence and artistic excellence. The event served as a valuable platform for cultural exchange and creative expression, exposing students to diverse theatrical styles and performances.
This participation marked a historic milestone for the institution, reflecting its growing presence on a national stage of performing arts. The team was accompanied by Dr. Maninder Kaur Bains.
Adding to this achievement, our student Renuka brought laurels to the college by securing the Runner-Up Award for Best Actor, highlighting her exceptional performance and stage presence.
The Principal, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, appreciated the initiative and extended his support for such enriching activities. Dr. Harmohan Sharma, Dean, Co-curricular Activities, and Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head, Department of English, congratulated the team and encouraged continued participation in such prestigious events. Overall, the experience proved to be enriching and inspiring, strengthening the students’ confidence, teamwork, and commitment to excellence in the field of theater.
