Affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, the college has received prestigious NAAC B++ accreditation in its first cycle. Xavier's College, Patna, founded in July 2009, is managed by Patna Province of the Society of Jesus. The Patna Jesuit Society has been rendering yeoman service to build an egalitarian society based on equality, justice, freedom, and fraternity based on gospel values and en

shrined in the Constitution of India through various apostolic environments, including education. To achieve this aim, society concentrated on education initiatives at the primary and secondary levels. An attempt at entering the tertiary level began in the late 1970s. However, several constraints came in the way of starting a degree college: lack of finances, the limited scope of getting affiliation from universities, lack of qualified Jesuit personnel and lack of capacity for risk-taking, etc. Xavier's College of Education, was established in 1988. Finally, the decision to establish a degree college was taken in 2008, and the present college (for both boys and girls) was formally opened in July 2009, realizing a long-felt need in Bihar State. Though there were a few Christian institutions of higher learning in undivided Bihar (before 2000), there have been only two Christian colleges in the post-2000 Bihar: Patna Women's College (for girls only), managed by Apostolic Carmel Sisters and St. Xavier's College of Education, of the Patna Jesuits. Xavier's College of Management & Technology, Patna, is an arts and commerce college, but the aim is to add not only the science stream but also vocational and professional courses, with the aim of offering an all-round formation that caters to the intellectual, cultural, social, emotional, physical, aesthetic, moral, and spiritual aspects of the human person.
