Eco Club Celebrates Earth Day with Green Drive

The Eco Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, organized a vibrant plantation drive to commemorate Earth Day. The event served as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility toward environmental conservation and sustainable living.

During the drive, distinguished guests Dr. Rakesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany from Doaba College, Jalandhar and Dr. Sumit, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics from DAV College, Jalandhar actively participated by planting saplings of citrus fruits. These fruit-bearing trees were specifically chosen to promote biodiversity and encourage the growth of productive ecosystems within the college premises.

The initiative received strong administrative backing, with the Director Academics, Dr. Savinder Pal and Officiating Principal, Dr. Ruminder Kaur expressing appreciation to the Eco club incharges, Dr. Priyanka Aeri (Nodal Officer) and coordinators, Dr. Tavisha and Ms. Isha for their consistent efforts in promoting a greener Bharat.

Promoting Reading Culture on World Book Day

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Kamla Nehru College for Women, in collaboration with the Dr. Ranganathan Library Club, celebrated World Book Day on 23 April 2026 in the Audio Visual Lab under the theme “A Celebration of Knowledge and Imagination with Books.”

The Resource Person, Mrs. Lata Arora, Librarian, Kamla Nehru College of Education for Women, Phagwara highlighted the importance of reading and described books as sources of knowledge, imagination, and inspiration. She encouraged students to develop regular reading habits and see books as lifelong companions.

Dr. Savinder Pal, Director Academics, emphasized the importance of creative writing and encouraged students to cultivate the habit of reading, even while travelling. She also highlighted the need to improve access to books, support local publishing, and promote multilingual literature.

The Director Academics, Dr. Savinder Pal, and the Officiating Principal, Dr. Ruminder Kaur, appreciated the efforts of the Dr. Ranganathan Library Club and motivated students to cultivate regular reading habits.

*Educational visit organised by Home Science Association for students of Nanny Care and Nutrition*
Under the esteemed guidance of Director Academics Dr. Savinder Pal and Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur, the Home Science Association organized an educational visit to SD KMV school Phagwara for experiential learning session on 20th April, 2026 for the students of Nanny Care and Nutrition.
As part of the program, 10 students of Nanny care and nutrition visited the SD KMV school, Phagwara, where they had the opportunity to interact with preschool children in a fun learning environment and engaging them is basic education skills.
Nanny care students used flash cards and models for narrating stories for moral development of preschoolers. They organised play activities for the development of gross as well as fine motor development of preschoolers.
This initiative fulfilled its aim to enhance the students' practical knowledge and connect them with the real-world application of their studies of Nanny care and Nutrition.

Kamla Nehru College for Women Releases Book on Entrepreneurship for Class 12 Students
Kamla Nehru College for Women proudly released a book titled “Basics of Entrepreneurship with Practical Activities” for Class 12, authored by Ms. Simranjeet Kaur Walia (Assistant Professor, Commerce) and Ms. Poonam (Assistant Professor, Commerce).

The book has been thoughtfully designed to build a strong foundation of entrepreneurship among students by integrating theoretical concepts with practical, activity-based learning. It aims to foster entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and real-world business skills, making it a valuable academic resource for young learners with an entrepreneurial mindset.

The book was released under the able guidance of Director Academics Dr. Savinder Pal and Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur, along with the support of Ms. Sanjna Walia (Head, Commerce Department) and Ms. Sandeep Nandra.

Director Academics Dr. Savinder Pal and Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur congratulated the authors for their commendable scholarly contribution and appreciated the book’s practical and student-centric approach towards entrepreneurship education. They emphasized that the book will serve as an effective learning tool, encouraging students to develop creativity, innovation, and self-reliance in today’s dynamic business environment.

The Head of the Commerce Department, Ms. Sanjna Walia, along with Ms. Sandeep Nandra, also extended their appreciation to the authors for their dedicated efforts in creating a resource that bridges the gap between theory and practice.

Students of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara Awarded Charanjit Singh Bassi Memorial Scholarship

April 18,2026- A total of 37 meritorious and economically disadvantaged students of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara were awarded scholarships amounting to ₹74,000 under the Charanjit Singh Bassi Memorial Scholarship. The first installment of the scholarship was distributed on April 8, while the remaining 13 cheques were handed over today.

This initiative was supported by the Phagwara Environment Association, while the scholarship distribution was organized by the Blood Bank.

Mr. Raghabotra expressed his gratitude to Academic Director Dr. Savinder Pal and Principal (Officiating)Dr. Ruminder Kaur for their initiative in bringing this scholarship to the college and for their continuous efforts in supporting academic development.

The college also extends special thanks to Mr. K.K. Sardana, Managing Director of Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Ltd., Phagwara (and President of the Phagwara Environment Association), and Prof. Jaswant Singh Gandam, Honorary Secretary of the Bassi Trust.

A Proud Moment for Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara: NSS Volunteer Participates in National-Level ‘My Bharat Budget Quest 2026

It is a matter of immense pride for Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, that NSS volunteer Ms. Parminder Kaur (Roll No. 821), a student of B.Com 2nd Semester, participated in the prestigious national-level event ‘My Bharat Budget Quest 2026’, held at Panjab University, Chandigarh, from 12th to 13th April 2026.

The two-day youth dialogue witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 700 young minds from Punjab, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh. The event served as a dynamic platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions on national issues, policy perspectives, and the vision of Viksit Bharat. Key highlights of the programme included Youth Parliament sessions, engaging debates on “Voices of Young India,” and insightful discussions under the theme of Nari Shakti, where young women shared powerful perspectives on nation-building.
The active participation of the volunteer reflects the dedication, awareness, and enthusiasm of KNCW students towards academic excellence and national engagement. The NSS Unit of the college continues to play a significant role in fostering leadership qualities, social responsibility, and civic awareness among students through such impactful initiatives.
