The Center for Drone Applications at IIT Goa was visited by Ms. Tulika Pandey, Scientist G and GC (HRD), Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India, on 20 April 2026 to understand the achievements of the Center and to discuss future plans under the SwaYaan project of MeitY. Project members, external beneficiaries and students had an engaging discussion with her on a variety of topics related to drones.

Dr. Bidhan Pramanick, Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Sciences, represented IIT Goa
at IInvenTiv 2026, a prestigious R&D innovation fair held at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on 6-7th April, 2026.

A medical device prototype titled “HealthDost”, developed by Dr. Pramanick and his team, was selected for
exhibition at the event. The device is a multisensory integrated platform designed for the continuous
monitoring of vital physiological parameters.

On 14 April 2026, IIT Goa’s SC/ST/PwD Cell commemorated the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a solemn programme honoring his ideals of justice, equality, and dignity, featuring a guest lecture by Ms. Sayonara Telles Laad, Former District and Sessions Judge; Former Member Secretary, Goa State Legal Services Authority; Former President, Children’s Court for the State of Goa; and Legal Consultant & Mediator on “Dr. Ambedkar’s Legacy – Committing to a Social Purpose.”

The celebration also included prize distribution for Quiz and Art Competition winners and a documentary screening on Dr. Ambedkar’s life and contributions, inspiring the IIT Goa community to reaffirm its commitment to his values.

IIT Goa hosted a 3-day International Conference on Quantum Materials: Fundamentals to Functionalities (QM:F2F 2026) from 26–28 March 2026. The conference was jointly organized by IIT Goa, S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, SRM University AP, IISER Kolkata, IISER Pune and IIT Bombay.

The conference brought together researchers from India and across the globe to deliberate on recent advances in quantum materials, spanning fundamental physics to emerging technological applications.

On 28 March 2026, IIT Goa organised a workshop on "Research, Education, Innovation and Entrepreunership (R.E.INV.ENT)" conducted for faculty members from IIT Goa, NIT Goa and BITS Goa by Prof. B. Ravi, Director NIT Karnataka (Surathkal). The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dhirendra Katti, Director IIT Goa. The workshop aimed to connect its themes to enable sustainable development of a region, nation and the world by enabling the participants to set up a "Golden Spiral" of meaningful research, inspiring teaching, product innovation and entrepreneurship.
