The Department of Community Medicine, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H), successfully organized a World Population Day 2026 health education programme at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Mudaliyarpet, on 10 July 2026. The programme was conducted under the global theme, “Realizing the Hopes and Aspirations of Young People – Today and for the Future.”

The programme aimed to educate on family planning methods for a small, happy family and to promote the adoption of appropriate family planning practices for a healthier and prosperous society.
The programme commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Rajkumar R, Postgraduate, highlighting the importance of family planning awareness and its impact on Community health and well-being. This was followed by a chart-based health education session conducted by second-year MBBS students, explaining the Family planning methods, Adolescent health, Small family; Happy Family, Healthy Mother; Healthy baby. The students then presented an informative skit emphasizing responsible parenthood. The programme concluded with a doubt-clearing session, where participants queries were addressed, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr.B.Lavanya , who appreciated the active participation of the audience and the efforts of the organizing team.

The programme benefited 50 community members and successfully enhanced public awareness regarding family planning and adolescent health while reinforcing the importance of responsible parenthood for sustainable community development.

The Department of Community Medicine, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H), organized a World Hepatitis Day 2026 health education programme at the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Chinnakanganankuppam, on 09 July 2026. The programme was conducted under the global theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down.”

The programme aimed to create awareness about hepatitis among the community.
The event commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Nijanthan, Postgraduate, who highlighted the significance of hepatitis awareness and its impact on public health. This was followed by a chart-based health education session conducted by second-year MBBS students, explaining the types, modes of transmission, symptoms, and preventive measures of hepatitis. The students then presented an informative skit emphasizing early diagnosis, vaccination, and healthy practices for hepatitis prevention. The programme concluded with a doubt-clearing session and vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kawya, Senior Resident, who appreciated the active participation of the audience and the efforts of the organizing team.
The programme benefited 50 community members and enhanced public awareness regarding hepatitis prevention, early detection, and the importance of community participation in achieving better public health outcomes.

Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H) organized a series of Mobile Medical Camps and Specialty Outreach Programmes from 06 July to 10 July 2026 across several rural villages and satellite centres in Cuddalore district, reinforcing its commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to remote areas.
As part of its rural healthcare outreach initiative, Mobile Medical Unit Camps were conducted in collaboration with Sevabharathi, covering the villages of Ramapuram, Vazhisodhanaipalayam, Thangalikuppam, Ramanathankuppam, Silambimangalam, Aandaar Mullipallam, Vellapakkam, Marudhadu, Thirumanikuzhi, and Kuravanpalayam. These outreach camps offered free medical consultations, general health screening, treatment guidance, preventive healthcare education, disease screening, and referral services for patients requiring specialized medical care at AVMC&H.
Specialty Outreach Camps were organized at AVMC&H Satellite Centres. These included a Dermatology Specialty Camp at Saathipattu Satellite Centre, a Dentistry Specialty Camp at Silambinathanpettai Satellite Centre, a Pain & Palliative Care Specialty Camp at Pachaiyankuppam Satellite Centre, and a Paediatrics Specialty Camp at Nellikuppam Satellite Centre..
This week the AVMC&H medical teams provided healthcare services to over 210 beneficiaries through both Mobile Medical Unit Camps and Specialty Outreach Clinics.
