Swachhta Pakhwada | 24th September 2026

🌿 Turning Waste into Creativity!

As part of 'Swachhta Pakhwada', the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition – Goa organized a vibrant “Wealth Out of Waste (WOW)” Competition on 24th September 2026, under the guidance of Ms. Valentina D’Souza.

The activity aimed to create awareness among students about cleanliness, responsible waste management and the importance of the 3R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, while encouraging them to contribute towards the vision of a Clean India.

💡 The WOW Challenge – 3 Steps to Creativity!

🔹 STEP 1 – COLLECT ♻
Students collected discarded materials from their homes such as cardboard, plastic bottles, glass containers, boxes, metal cans and other waste materials.

🔹 STEP 2 – RECONSTRUCT & REUSE
With creativity and imagination, students transformed waste materials into useful and decorative articles such as stationery holders, baskets, purses, flowers, musical instruments, decorative pieces and more!

🔹 STEP 3 – DECORATE 🎨✨
The creations were given a colourful finishing touch using ribbons, paints, sequins and other decorative materials, transforming ordinary waste into something beautiful, useful and meaningful.

🌿 WEALTH OUT OF WASTE (WOW) COMPETITION

SWACHHTA HI SEVA – 2026 | 24th September 2026

What if a discarded bottle could become a beautiful masterpiece?
What if an old cardboard box could be transformed into something useful?

That’s exactly what our talented students at the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition – Goa set out to prove!

As part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ 2026, IHM Goa organized a creative and meaningful Wealth Out of Waste (WOW) Competition under the guidance of Ms. Valentina D’Souza.

🌍 The message was simple:
DON’T THROW IT AWAY… RECREATE IT! ♻

The competition encouraged students to look at waste differently and turn discarded materials into innovative, decorative and useful creations, while spreading awareness about cleanliness, responsible waste management and environmental sustainability.

♻️ THE WOW FORMULA – 3 STEPS TO CREATIVITY!

🟢 1. COLLECT
Students collected discarded materials from their homes — cardboard, plastic bottles, glass containers, boxes, metal cans and much more!

🔵 2. RECONSTRUCT & REUSE
With imagination taking the lead, ordinary waste was transformed into stationery holders, purses, flower baskets, musical instruments, statues, decorative articles and other creative products.

🟡 3. DECORATE & TRANSFORM
A splash of colour, ribbons, sequins and creative finishing touches turned these discarded materials into eye-catching creations! 🎨✨

🌟 From WASTE ➡️ to WONDER! 🌟

Students from the B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, Craft and Diploma Courses participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity, innovation, imagination and commitment to a cleaner and greener environment.

🙏 The event commenced with the Swachhata Pledge, reinforcing our collective responsibility towards cleanliness and a sustainable future.

💚 Because sustainability begins when we stop seeing waste as “useless” and start seeing it as an opportunity.

Let’s choose kindness over intimidation and support over fear.
Together, we can create a positive environment where everyone belongs.
Say NO to Ragging. Say YES to Respect. 🤝🚫
