The Code Maternal Arrest Workshop successfully concluded with the participation of 45 delegates and a distinguished multidisciplinary faculty of 15, including experts from Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesiology, and Obstetrics. The workshop was organized by the Department of Emergency Medicine (EMD), Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) Medical College in association with SEMI India.

Maternal cardiac arrest presents a uniquely high-stakes clinical challenge, involving the lives of both mother and baby. This workshop focused on strengthening critical, life-saving skills through hands-on workstations, covering:

Difficult airway management in pregnancy
CPR and defibrillation in maternal arrest
Resuscitative delivery
Newborn resuscitation

Participants also engaged in two high-fidelity simulation scenarios, enabling them to apply these skills in realistic, high-pressure situations. This was followed by a systems-based discussion, aimed at helping delegates translate these learnings into their own clinical settings and implement a structured Code Maternal Arrest protocol.

Managing maternal cardiac arrest requires seamless coordination, preparedness, and teamwork. This workshop marked a significant step towards building that integrated response in emergency care.
