Bridging Agricultural Expertise with Emerging Technology!
PCU has entered into a MoU with Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri, with a focused objective — to combine agricultural domain expertise with emerging technologies and develop solutions that address real-world challenges.
The MoU was signed under the presidency of Dr. Vilas Kharche, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri, with Dr. Santosh Sonavane, Vice-Chancellor, PCU, as Chief Guest.
The collaboration will explore AI, Machine Learning, IoT, data analytics, automation, precision farming, crop and disease analysis, horticulture technologies and other technology-driven applications in agriculture.
At PCU, we believe that research must move beyond ideas and prototypes to create measurable impact. A key focus of this collaboration will therefore be to identify agricultural problem statements, connect them with PCU’s technological capabilities and develop interdisciplinary student and faculty projects with practical applications.
The interaction brought together academic and research leaders including Dr. Prashant Bodake, Director of Research, MPKV; Dr. Subhash Bhalekar, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Pune; Dr. Bharat Kale, Director (R&D), PCU; Dr. Sunil Kadam, Head (AE) & PI, CoE-DTSPA, MPKV; Dr. Swati Shirke-Deshmukh and Dr. Rahul Sonkamble, R&D Coordinator, PCU.
The programme was also attended by Dr. Satappa Kharbade, Dean (F/A) & Director of Instruction; Dr. Goraksh Sasane, Director of Extension Education; Dr. Sachin Nandgude, Comptroller; Mr. Rajendrakumar Patil, Registrar, MPKV; and Dr. Anil Maheshwari, Registrar, PCU.
The partnership will also create avenues for joint research, student projects, faculty collaboration, research publications, Intellectual Property Rights, technology development and collaborative research proposals.
With MPKV bringing deep agricultural knowledge and field-level expertise, and PCU contributing technological and interdisciplinary research capabilities, this partnership aims to transform ideas into solutions that are relevant, scalable and ready for real-world application.
