At Symbiosis there are international students from over 85 countries who undertake undergraduate & postgraduate studies. It was a pleasure to welcome a distinguished delegation from Northeastern University, USA to the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) campus in Hyderabad, marking another meaningful step towards strengthening our international academic engagement.

🌏 SIU Across India: Creating Global Opportunities through Internationalization at Home

Deakin University’s Ms. Priyanka Singh, Executive Director – South Asia, and Ms. Irfa Javed, Associate Senior Manager – Partnerships, visited four campuses of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) across Pune, Nagpur and Hyderabad. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen institutional engagement, connect with academic leadership and faculty, and engage directly with students around international education, student mobility and the Deakin–SIU Dual Degree Program.

📍 Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS), Pune
The visit included a Dual Degree cohort orientation and discussions with Dr. Adya Sharma, Director, SCMS Pune, and Dr. Sonica Rautela, Internationalization In-charge, focusing on strengthening academic collaboration and international opportunities for students.

📍 Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune
The team met with Dr. Nilima Zade, Internationalization In-charge. The visit also included an interaction with first-year students to introduce them to the opportunities available through the Dual Degree Program.

📍 Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Nagpur
The team met with Dr. Nitin Rakesh, Director, SIT Nagpur, and Dr. Harshala Shingne, Internationalization In-charge, followed by an engaging interaction with Dual Degree students preparing to transfer to Deakin University in the upcoming academic year.

📍 Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Hyderabad
The visit included a meeting with Prof. Rajanikanth Aluvalu, Director, SIT Hyderabad and Dr. Anupama Kotur, Head - Symbiosis Centre for India Australia Studies & International Academic Programs followed by an interaction with newly inducted students as part of their induction programme.

These engagements represent an important step towards bringing international perspectives, partnerships and opportunities closer to students—right on campus. Through initiatives such as the Deakin–SIU Dual Degree Program, Internationalization at Home goes beyond geographical boundaries. It enables students to develop global competencies, gain international perspectives and prepare for an increasingly interconnected world.

We look forward to continuing to strengthen the Deakin University–Symbiosis International (Deemed University) partnership and creating more pathways for students to learn globally, connect meaningfully and thrive internationally. 🌏🎓
