The Department of Computer Engineering at AISSMS College of Engineering successfully organized a session on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP Management for Start-ups” on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day.

The session was delivered by Dr. Sunita Dhotre, Senior Member IEEE and Advisor to multiple professional bodies, who provided in-depth insights into the significance of intellectual property in today’s innovation-driven ecosystem. A major focus of the session was on patents, including their importance, types, eligibility criteria, and the step-by-step filing and protection process. The discussion also covered copyrights, trademarks, and the role of IPR in strengthening start-ups and fostering innovation.

The program was conducted in the presence of respected dignitaries:
Mrs. A. S. Deokar and Ms. V. M. Kanavade, IIC Faculty Coordinators;
Dr. D. P. Gaikwad, Head of the Department, Computer Engineering;
Dr. V. N. Patil, Dean – Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship;
and Dr. D. S. Bormane, Principal, AISSMS College of Engineering.

The session proved to be highly informative, providing participants with practical knowledge on protecting intellectual assets and understanding the legal and procedural aspects of patents and other forms of intellectual property.
