We foster global collaborations, student & faculty exchanges, international admissions, and cultural integration. Savitribai Phule Pune University attracts the largest number of foreign students in comparison to all other Indian Universities. Apart from offering a multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary learning environment, one of the main reasons for studying in Pune is the manageable cost of livi

ng and the conducive environment for education. Currently, we have around 14,000 students, from over 102 countries studying at the University and its affiliated colleges. The International Centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University, located on campus, assists the International Students’ Community, in acquiring information about the various courses, colleges, tuition structure, eligibility, accommodation, health insurance and the likes offered by the University. It is also operative in arranging for the students’ admissions and their overall welfare. The International Centre administers the special 15% over and above quota of International Students, created jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MEA & MHRD) Government of India. The International Centre is the nodal agency that coordinates all the activities related to the admission of International Students, through a unique single-window system, that was established in the year 2001. Apart from handling the admissions and eligibility procedures, the International Centre coordinates with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MEA & MHRD) and with different Embassies and Consulates for various purposes including getting scholarships as well as administering MoU’s with International Partners of higher education. The International Centre acts as a liaison between the students, the various Departmental Heads, and the Heads of Colleges and Institutions affiliated under the University of Pune as well as the Heads of Chancery, Embassies, Consulates, their educational counsellors and their educational wings, throughout the world or with any other agencies of the Government of India or the Government of other countries. Youth Festival

Every year International Youth Festival is organized to increase networking, co-operation and bonding among the students of different countries and is graced by ambassadors and dignitaries from different countries. The festival commences with Sports Events which generally include Football, Volleyball and Basketball. This event is followed by a Food Festival wherein the students of different countries showcase their culinary skills. The final event of the festival is the Cultural Program with a colorful Flag March followed by traditional dances.

We are delighted to share that Certificates of Appreciation along with Recommendation Letters were presented to the International Youth Festival 2025–26 Coordinators, who played a pivotal role in successfully organising the Youth Festival by the International Centre, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

I am pleased to share that the Valedictory Session of the Two-Day Interdisciplinary International Conference, organised by the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies (DDSS), Savitribai Phule Pune University, in memory of Late Prof. (Dr.) Arun S. Dalvi on his first death anniversary, was held on 8th February 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, Main Building, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The conference on “Navigating Contemporary Global Conflicts: India–Europe Perspectives on Security, Diplomacy, Social Justice & Global Governance” was organised in collaboration with the International Centre, SPPU; Department of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Studies (DBAS); Indo-European Education Foundation, Poland; Strategic Culture and Security Foundation, Pune; and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences (BRAUSS), Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.

The Valedictory Session was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Verma; Dr. Sheshadri Chari; and Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar, who shared their reflections on the deliberations and appreciated the quality of scholarly discussions held over the two days.

Certificates were distributed to the paper presenters in recognition of their valuable academic contributions during the conference. The event concluded on a note of intellectual satisfaction, reaffirming the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration in addressing contemporary global challenges.

🌍✨ International Culture Festival 2025–26 ✨🌍

Happy to share that the International Culture Festival 2025–26 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Saturday, 7th February 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the International Centre Premises, Savitribai Phule Pune University, as part of the International Youth Festival 2026.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi; Mrs. Gosavi; Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Parag Kalkar; Parshuram Wadekar , Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Verma; Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar, University of Opole, Poland; Prof. (Dr.) Thoralf Gebel, Hochschule Mittweida, University of Applied Sciences, Germany; Mrs. Elena Bujor, Romania; Advocate Mr. Powel Tyla, Tyala Law Firm; Prof. Arvind Kumar; Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Jha; Prof. (Dr.) Imankalyan Lahiri; Prof. (Dr.) Pratip Chattopadhya; Prof. (Dr.) Debasish Nandy; Prof. (Dr.) Mayurakshi Choudhary; and Shri Kuldeep Dagar, along with university authorities and students who participated in large numbers.

The festival commenced with a spectacular Flag March, where students proudly carried the flags of 41 different countries along with the Indian National Flag, symbolising unity, global friendship, and international solidarity. The countries that participated included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Fiji Islands, Ghana, Ireland, Mauritius, Nepal, Qatar, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, reflecting the truly global character of the International Centre.

This was followed by vibrant cultural performances, including music, dance, and artistic presentations by international and Indian students, celebrating the richness of diverse traditions and creative expressions.

The event beautifully reflected the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” promoting healthy choices, intercultural harmony, and positive engagement. The celebration truly embodied the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family, making it a memorable and joyous occasion at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Happy to share that the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies (DDSS), Savitribai Phule Pune University, organised a Two-Day Interdisciplinary International Conference in the memory of Late Prof. (Dr.) Arun S. Dalvi on his first death anniversary.

The conference on “Navigating Contemporary Global Conflicts: India–Europe Perspectives on Security, Diplomacy, Social Justice & Global Governance” was held on 7th and 8th February 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, Main Building, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The conference was organised in collaboration with the International Centre, SPPU; Department of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Studies (DBAS); Indo-European Education Foundation, Poland; Strategic Culture and Security Foundation, Pune; and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences (BRAUSS), Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. Priyankar Upadhyaya, UNESCO Chair for Peace & Intercultural Understanding, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, who provided deep insights into contemporary global conflicts and the evolving dimensions of peace, diplomacy, and global governance.

The conference brought together distinguished scholars, academicians, researchers, and students from India and abroad, creating a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange on security studies, social justice, diplomacy, and India–Europe relations. The deliberations served as a meaningful academic tribute to the legacy and scholarly contributions of Late Prof. (Dr.) Arun S. Dalvi, whose work continues to inspire critical and strategic thought.

It was a pleasure to welcome a distinguished delegation from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), Israel, to the International Centre, Savitribai Phule Pune University, on Wednesday, 11th February 2025 at 2:00 p.m.

The delegation included Ms. Jane Turner, Head, HUJI International Office; Prof. Eyal Ert, Vice Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture; Prof. Yoav Shaul, Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine; Mr. Zaid Khan, In-Country Officer (India); Prof. Guy Harpaz, Vice President for International Affairs; Dr. Amnon Dekel, CEO, Asper-HUJI Innovate; and Prof. Dana Reichmann, Head, Chemistry-Biology Program and President, Israel Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

🌍🍽 International Food Festival 2026 🍽🌍

The International Food Festival 2026 was held with great enthusiasm on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the International Centre Premises, Savitribai Phule Pune University, as part of the International Youth Festival 2026.

The programme was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi; Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Parag Kalkar; Mrs. Kalkar; Dr. Dattatray Kute, SPPU Press, along with SPPU authorities and students, who were present in large numbers and actively participated in the celebrations.

International students showcased traditional cuisines from a wide range of countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burundi, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Fiji Islands, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nepal, Russia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, The Gambia, Turkmenistan, Uganda, and Vietnam, offering a rich and colourful culinary experience.

The evening was further enlivened by vibrant musical performances by students from Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, Iran, Zimbabwe, and South Sudan, which added energy and cultural charm to the celebration and were warmly appreciated by the audience.

The event beautifully reflected the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” promoting healthy choices, cultural harmony, and positive engagement. The International Food Festival truly celebrated unity in diversity and embodied the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family, making it a memorable and joyful occasion at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
