The celebration reflected the collective efforts and meticulous preparation of different departments, with each contributing to the successful organisation of the event. The coming together of the FTII community highlighted the spirit of teamwork, coordination and shared cultural traditions.

The occasion was celebrated in the spirit of togetherness, positivity and the triumph of good over evil.

🎥 About the Workshop
Take an idea from the page to the screen through a complete filmmaking journey. Participants will learn idea development, story structure, character, screenplay, dialogue, direction, cinematography, editing and sound design through discussions, screenings and hands-on exercises.

The workshop is designed to be completed entirely using a mobile phone, demonstrating how accessible tools can be used to create cinema.

Over 7 days, participants will develop an idea into a logline, beat sheet, characters and scenes, screenplay, scene breakdown and final script package, while learning how the different stages of filmmaking connect.

👤 Course Director: Ashok Dhingra
Ashok Dhingra is a filmmaker, screenwriter, director and educator with a postgraduate diploma in Screenplay Writing & Direction from SRFTI, Kolkata. He has worked across feature films, documentaries, television, advertising and corporate films, and currently serves as Head of the School of Cinema at AAFT, Noida.

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, under its Centre for Open Learning (CFOL) initiative, announces an Acting Workshop from 22nd to 28th October 2026 in Indore.

Designed for aspiring actors and performers, the workshop offers hands-on training to build the essential skills required for acting, from body and voice control to character development, improvisation, and camera performance.

What you will learn:
• Build body, voice and emotional control for acting
• Develop observation and imagination to create realistic characters
• Learn improvisation, listening and natural reactions on stage
• Understand scripts, subtext and character development
• Practise monologues, scenes and camera acting
• Prepare for auditions and build confidence in performance
• Conclude with a final performance to showcase your learning

Course Director: Ms Divya Jagdale, actor, writer and director with over 30 years of experience across stage and cinema, with film credits including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Gulaab Gang, Stanley Ka Dabba, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi and Murder in Mahim, among others.

About the Workshop: This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the art of documentary storytelling, research, visual composition, cinematography, editing and sound design. Through documentary screenings, discussions, practical exercises and collaborative filmmaking, participants will learn to identify a subject, develop a narrative, conduct interviews, shoot footage and shape it into a documentary.

The workshop also covers pitch development, funding, distribution, intellectual property protection and impact strategy, helping participants understand how documentaries can contribute to social and cultural change.

Course Director: Ms Maya Rao An alumna of FTII’s Direction course (1984–87), Maya Rao has worked extensively in the Mumbai film and television industry, creating award-winning fiction and non-fiction television programmes and documentaries. She regularly conducts Impact Documentary workshops and believes in the power of documentaries to drive social, behavioural and policy change.

🎥 About the Course
Go from idea to finished film through an intensive, hands-on filmmaking experience covering screenwriting, pre-production, cinematography, direction, editing and sound design.

Participants will develop their own short-film scripts and learn how to translate them to the screen through practical training in camera, composition, lighting, shot breakdowns, storyboarding, floor planning, production planning, directing actors, editing and sound.

The course features dedicated practical sessions led by FTII graduates in cinematography, editing and sound, giving participants the opportunity to work through the complete filmmaking process.

👤 Course Director: Rajashree
Rajashree is a National Award-winning writer-director and bestselling novelist. An FTII alumna, she has written and developed features and series, worked as a producer, and directed television shows, short films and advertisements. She has also taught at FTII and served on film festival juries and the Screenwriters Association.

🎞️ The Final Project
By the end of the course, participants will work in groups to make their own short films, putting everything they learn into practice.

FTII mourns the sad demise of Nana Patekar ji. He will remain a strong signature in the annals of screen acting. His strong performances and captivating screen presence will stay etched in the minds of his admirers for a long time to come. Some pics of his visit to FTII few years ago.

पुणे, 06 अक्टूबर 2026: भारतीय फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन संस्थान (भाफिटेसं), पुणे में हिन्दी पखवाड़ा–2026 के अंतर्गत आयोजित विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताओं के विजेताओं को कुलपति श्री धीरज सिंह* द्वारा पुरस्कार तथा प्रतिभागियों को सहभागिता प्रमाण-पत्र प्रदान किए गए।

इस अवसर पर कुलसचिव श्री प्रतीक जैन, प्रभारी संकायाध्यक्ष (फिल्म) श्री हरीश के. एम. एवं संकायाध्यक्ष (टीवी) श्री संदीप शहारे उपस्थित रहे। समारोह से पूर्व ‘लेंसाइट’ पत्रिका के हिन्दी संस्करण का विमोचन भी किया गया।

कुलपति श्री धीरज सिंह ने हिन्दी के अधिकाधिक प्रयोग पर बल देते हुए कहा कि हिन्दी सृजन, संवाद और अभिव्यक्ति की महत्वपूर्ण भाषा है तथा सिनेमा एवं टेलीविजन के माध्यम से इसके व्यापक प्रसार की अपार संभावनाएँ हैं।
