Strengthening Research, One Publication at a Time!

The Centre for Research at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organised a two-day programme, “Research Writing: Strategies for Quality Publications,” on 13–14 October 2026.

With Dr Fr Joseph Varghese from the Department of Mathematics, Kuriakose Elias College, Kerala, as the resource person, the programme highlighted the importance of effective academic writing and quality scholarly publications.

The initiative reinforced the value of research excellence and effective communication in contributing to the academic community.

A new chapter in the CHRIST alumni journey unfolded in Mumbai!

The Office of Alumni Engagement inaugurated the CHRIST University Alumni Foundation Chapter – Mumbai, bringing together alumni from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa. The occasion was graced by Dr Fr Jose C C, Vice Chancellor, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

The gathering celebrated shared memories, strengthened alumni connections, and renewed the bond that unites the CHRIST community across generations.

PEITHO CUP 2026 | The 2nd Edition

Arguments were challenged. Questions were sharpened. Ideas were put to the test.

The School of Law’s Debate and Literary Society, in collaboration with the Entertainment and Media Law Committee, conducted the second edition of Peitho Cup 2026: Asian Parliamentary Debate & The Reporter’s Showdown.

From the online rounds on 12–13 September to the offline rounds on 3–4 October, participants demonstrated research, quick thinking, structured rebuttals, persuasive communication, and analytical reasoning.

The Reporter’s Showdown added an exciting twist, pushing debaters to face challenging questions while testing reporters through innovative questioning and convincing news writing.

The Department of English & Cultural Studies, in collaboration with CHRIST Language and Arts Network (CLAN), organised a guest lecture on Subalternity Studies featuring Dr Mrinmoy Pramanick, Associate Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Fiscal Decentralization in India: A Guest Lecture on Public Finance

The Department of Statistics & Data Science, School of Sciences, organised a guest lecture on “Fiscal Decentralization in India” under the course ECO201-3L (Public Finance) on 1 October 2026.

The session featured Prof. Hari Kurup K K, Advisor to the 7th State Finance Commission, Government of Kerala, who shared valuable perspectives on public finance and fiscal policy at the state and local government levels.

The lecture examined how fiscal powers, responsibilities, and resources were distributed across different tiers of government in India. It also highlighted the role of Finance Commissions in strengthening intergovernmental fiscal relations and grassroots governance.

The interactive Q&A provided students with an opportunity to engage with an experienced practitioner and deepen their understanding of the practical dimensions of fiscal decentralization.

Passing the Mantle of Leadership | SBA Investiture Ceremony

The Student Bar Association (SBA) of the School of Law marked an important transition in student governance through its Investiture Ceremony.

The ceremony recognised the dedication and contributions of the outgoing Convenors and Co-Convenors through Letters of Appreciation. The incoming Convenors and Co-Convenors were formally inducted with Badges and Letters of Appointment, signifying the responsibilities and trust placed upon them.

As the official student body of the School of Law, the SBA plays an important role in connecting students with the administration and faculty while contributing to academic enhancement and professional development.

The ceremony represented more than a change in leadership. It celebrated the continuity of the SBA’s legacy and reaffirmed leadership as a commitment to service, accountability, responsibility, and professionalism.

The “Banking Skills: From Classroom to Branch” session created a bridge between academic learning and professional banking practice, helping students understand how concepts from finance and accounting were applied in real-world financial decisions.

The session featured Sankamithra T, Branch Sales & Service Executive at Karur Vysya Bank. Drawing from her experience in banking and financial services, she provided students with insights into credit assessment, financial analysis, customer relationship management, banking operations, risk, and responsible financial decision-making.

Her previous experience as an Analyst at State Street HCL Services, working on Fixed-Income NAV computation for client funds, also offered students a perspective on financial services operations and investment processes.

The interaction strengthened students’ understanding of professional banking practices while highlighting the skills and competencies relevant to careers in the financial sector.

The Department of Commerce organised an engaging Alumni Interaction Session, “Campus to Corporate,” to provide students with authentic insights into the journey from university to the corporate world.

The session featured Raswanth K T, an alumnus of CHRIST University, Bengaluru, and currently an Assistant Credit Manager at IDBI Bank. His professional experience in banking enabled students to gain practical perspectives on credit management, financial decision-making, workplace expectations, organisational culture, communication, and professional etiquette.

The interaction helped students understand how academic knowledge could be connected with workplace requirements and career realities, while offering valuable perspectives on professional growth and workplace readiness.

Huntopia 2.0 brought the Sustainable Development Goals to life!

Organised by the Sustainable Development Goals Cell, Huntopia 2.0 was conducted on 28 September 2026 at the Activity Hub as an interactive and gamified learning experience for students.

Teams took on six exciting rounds involving campus-based puzzles, physical challenges, water-transfer activities linked to SDG 6, video creation, coordination tasks, environmental engagement connected to SDG 15, and a final SDG quiz.

Each completed challenge unlocked the next clue, encouraging students to work together, think critically, communicate effectively, and apply their understanding of sustainability in practical situations.

Huntopia 2.0 turned learning about the SDGs into an engaging experience of participation, collaboration, problem-solving, and action.
