In ancient Vedic philosophy, the world was never seen as divided by geographical boundaries, but as one interconnected whole. The Sanskrit phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) expresses this timeless belief in unity.

Inspired by this vision, Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar founded Symbiosis in 1971, with the idea of creating a space where students from across the world could truly belong. He believed that education goes beyond knowledge, and brings people together as a global family.

At SIU, that belief continues to thrive through a community that celebrates diversity, fosters connection, and lives this philosophy every day.

Building awareness, strengthening systems, and reinforcing responsibility.

On 20th April 2026, a comprehensive workshop on the Internal Committee (IC) under POSH was conducted at the Symbiosis Lavale campus, bringing together members from Pune campuses in person while participants from off-campus locations joined online.

The workshop was enriched by the expertise of Ms. Sneha Khandekar, a development sector professional with over 36 years of experience in addressing violence and reproductive health issues and in guiding institutions on the Vishaka Guidelines and POSH Act, 2013. Advocate Ravi Bhardwaj, an education lawyer and legal advisor, offered valuable legal insights on compliance, institutional processes, and implementation clarity. Ms. Renuka Mukadam, with over two decades of experience in implementing the POSH and Vishaka Guidelines, shared practical perspectives on strengthening workplace safety and compliance systems.

A key takeaway from the workshop was the understanding of the Internal Committee’s role in loco parentis, ensuring a balanced, empathetic, and responsible approach while addressing concerns and queries. The session collectively reinforced the importance of informed systems, continuous sensitisation, and a safe institutional environment built on trust and accountability.

This Earth Day, we reflect on our responsibility towards the planet we call home. At Symbiosis International University, sustainability is embedded in everyday campus life - through green initiatives, conscious practices, and future-focused learning.

From researching climate change, wastewater remediation, and sustainable solutions at the Symbiosis Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability, to promoting waste reduction and resource efficiency through the Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management, and using GIS and spatial technology for environmental mapping at the Symbiosis Institute of Geoinformatics - efforts span across disciplines.

Extending beyond campus, community engagement initiatives focus on sanitation, health, and environmental awareness, reinforcing the belief that every small step today shapes a better tomorrow.

On 16 April 2026, .international.school hosted its maiden TEDxSIS – Pune Youth 2025–26, centred around the theme “Legacy in the Making.” The event brought together voices of leadership, service, creativity, alumni journeys, and student perspectives on one powerful stage.

The event was graced by Chief Guest, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis & Pro Chancellor, SIU, and began with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the Director’s Address by Ms. Shalini Singh Hamilton, setting the tone for a day of reflection and inspiration.

The speaker lineup showcased diverse interpretations of legacy:

- Amruta (Yeravdekar) Ruikar, Head – International Admissions & Promotions, Symbiosis, spoke about building institutional legacy and the vision that shapes global education.
- Brig. Rajiv Williams, YSM (Retd.), shared powerful insights on the enduring legacy of service beyond duty.
- Dr. Nikita Mehta, Wildlife Veterinarian, highlighted leading with empathy through her work with animals and conservation.
- Student speakers Kiyan Kapur (DP2), Suhana Stephen (DP2), and Vivaan Arya (DP2) moved the audience with reflections on beginning their own legacy as learners and young thinkers.
- ⁠Shlok Ranka, Alumnus, spoke about carrying the school’s imprint forward into the world.
- ⁠Anjali Damani, Choreographer, offered a creative perspective on reinventing legacy through art and expression.

The event also featured a heartfelt poem recitation and a musical performance adding warmth and energy to the exchange of ideas.

TEDxSIS was not just a platform for ideas, but a celebration of how legacy is shaped through actions, choices, and voices—here and now.

The last day of iHE2026 began today on an inspiring note with a wonderful discussion on Learners and TNE: Cultural Adaptation, Academic Expectations, and Employability.

The session brought forward truly insightful perspectives from Mr. Ravin Mirchandani, Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, Dr. Matthew Witenstein, Dr. Nilesh Berad, and Ms. Amrita Sadaramgani, making it a rich and engaging exchange of ideas.

A special mention Ms. Amruta Ruikar, for raising such poignant questions and driving meaningful, thought-provoking discussions. 🌟

There are conferences. And then there are moments that redefine an entire conversation.

Today at (Day 2) was unequivocally the latter. The conference at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) held some of the most formidable minds in global higher education — vice-chancellors, chancellors, country directors, government advisors, and international institution leaders — all gathered with one shared purpose: to push the boundaries of what transnational education can achieve.

Session after session, the energy in the room built into something truly remarkable. Ideas were challenged, visions were sharpened, and commitments were made that will reverberate well beyond this auditorium.

This was global higher education at its most alive, its most ambitious, and its most consequential.

The Inauguration and Keynote Address on “Global Trends and Emerging Models in Transnational Education” set a powerful tone for the International Higher Education Conference 2026 at Symbiosis International University.

We were honoured to host Prof. Iain Martin, Vice-Chancellor and President of Deakin University , Vinay Kumar Pathak, President of Association of Indian Universities whose presence underscored the growing importance of global academic partnerships in shaping India’s future.

The keynote by Kaustubh Dhavse, Chief Advisor to the Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra (Investments & Strategy, India), offered deep insights on how the India is actively taking steps for the evolving transnational education — driven by innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to global learning outcomes.

A particularly proud moment was witnessing Alekhya Chaganti, an alumna of Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune receive the Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious 50% Scholarship—a testament to the global pathways and opportunities that such collaborations create for our students.

As conversations unfold, it is clear that transnational education is no longer the future — it is the present, redefining boundaries and opening doors to a truly interconnected world of learning.
