Strengthening the UK–India Higher Education Partnership

The Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar co-chaired the 4th QS UK–India Higher Education Roundtable at the historic House of Lords, London, under the theme “Scaling Together: UK–India Higher Education in the FTA Era.”

The roundtable brought together key stakeholders to explore how the UK–India higher education partnership can be strengthened through greater collaboration, reciprocity and innovation.

The discussions highlighted four key shared priorities: more predictable funding for joint research and innovation; practical mechanisms for qualification recognition, credit transfer and professional accreditation; more reciprocal and affordable mobility for students, faculty and researchers; and greater flexibility for high-quality transnational education models.

As India and the UK deepen their strategic partnership, such dialogues are vital in shaping a more connected, accessible and future-ready higher education ecosystem.

An initiative of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), the Symbiosis Centre for Stem Cell Research (SCSCR) is among the few dedicated centres in India focused exclusively on stem cell biology. Located at the Lavale campus within the Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS), under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FoMHS), SCSCR brings together fundamental research and potential translational applications.

From understanding epigenetic mechanisms in stem cell differentiation to exploring hematopoiesis, extracellular vesicles, and bone and cartilage regeneration, researchers at SCSCR are working across diverse areas of stem cell and regenerative research.

With state-of-the-art facilities, research collaborations, and a strong focus on mentoring scholars, SCSCR is contributing to the evolving landscape of biomedical research in India.

Peace Poles conceptualized in the mid-1950s after the horrors of the second world war, with the words, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” have symbolised a shared, global wish for peace across cultures.

The Peace Poles on the Symbiosis campuses at Lavale and S. B. Road, were unveiled to mark the inauguration of the Rotary Peace Center at Symbiosis International University, on January 26, 2026, the 55th Foundation Day of Symbiosis, when it was established with the motto of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ - the World is One Family. The Peace Poles on the Symbiosis campuses bear this unique inscription.

Today, on International Peace Day, 2026, dedicated to “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” we celebrate the ideal and the motto of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, that reminds us that peace begins with recognition of our shared humanity.
