‘COM-FEST 2018 Cooking Competition was held at Ladies canteen of Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 13th February 2018.
The aim of this competition was to provide a platform to students to showcase their talent and build food preparation skills and motivate them to try fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other healthy food options prepared in new ways.
The event began at 9.00 a.m. and the participants had come well prepared with the sole objective of cooking up a nutritious and tasty dish. They were given an hour’s time to prepare and present the dish. It was a busy time for the
participants for chopping, mixing, grating and slicing. The final presentation was an excellent affair. The participants vied with each other to present their dishes in the most attractive manner. Many dishes were presented with beautiful crockery, chocolates, flowers, fruit carving and so many other new ideas.
Cooking competitions are exciting and fun to watch because of the suspense and wonders of what might something taste like. Nearly 19 students from BBA, BBA(CA) and Commerce showed their cooking talents by making tasty and healthy dishes. They prepared tempting dishes like Biryani, Hydrabadi Biryani,
Chicken Kabab, Ras malai, Gazer ka Halwa, Dudhi ka halwa , pudding, Shankar pali, crispy lady finger, Suji roles, Roti Sandwich, chicken Aachari with rumali roti, Chicken Taka tak, whole grains Idli –dosa, Biscuit Cake, Aalloo –Paneer tikki, bitter gourd cake , Custard etc .
The enthusiastic participants surprised everyone with their culinary talents by preparing dishes like fruit salad, sweet snacks, sandwiches etc.
The activity in charge was Dr. Nasrin Khan and Ms. Shabana Mulla. The judges for Cooking Competition were Dr. Shirin Shaikh, Prof. Swaleha Mulla, Prof. Fazil Shareef and Dr. Riyasat Peerzade. They tasted each and every dish and marked the dishes for its nutritive value, taste and presentation.

“MEHENDI COMPETITION- COMFEST 2017-18”

Department of Commerce of AKI’s Poona College of Arts,Science and Commerce has organized“COMFEST 2017-2018” from 12thFebruary to 14thFebruary 2018.
On 13th February 2018 mehendi competition was organized in ladies canteen from 8:00am to 9:00am. Twelve students were registered for the competition.
The participants were found to be very enthusiastic and talented in the competition. The participants were continuously encouraged and appreciated by other teaching staff of our college.
MrsMehrunnisa Shaikh from department of botany was the judge of the competition.
Two students were declared as winner and their name are as follows:
1) Ms. Sawleha Akbar Shaikh. (S.Y.BSC) - FirstWinner
2) Ms AlishaAltafShaikh (F.Y.BCom ) - Second Winner
The results were declared and the certificates will be distributed to the winners and participants on 20th February 2018 in the presence of Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Jury members and other staff members of our college.
The event was coordinated by Ms.HeenaSayyed and Ms.ReshmaPatil .

Pune, January 10 – AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune hosted a two-day International Conference on "Innovation Practice in Development of Commerce, Management, Computer Science & Application" on 8th& 9th January 2018 Sponsored Under Quality Improvement Program (QIP), SavitribaiPhule Pune University and Organised by Department of Commerce, Post-Graduate & Research Centre.
This conference aimed at providing an opportunity to young and promising managers, entrepreneurs, research scholars and academicians to express their views and discuss their innovations and problems in the field of commerce, management, computer science and application with their peers.

Principal and Conference Chairman, Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh gave his welcome address. Dr. Abbas Lokhandwala, Conference Secretary insisted on the importance of innovation for sustainability. Guest of Honor, Mr. Radha Krishna Adhikaryinsisted on reviewing the existing research rather than simply copying them. Keynote address was presented by the Chief Guest, Prof. M. Ali Akkas highlighted that we need to generate a Gross National Happiness and not Gross Domestic Product alone.Mr. Sachin Sharma gave a resplendent, very crisp and precise address on Innovations in Leadership and Management. Prof. Mahesh Thakur addressed collaboration innovations with multi-disciplinary fields. Prof. Moinuddin Khan, Vice-Principal, Arts was also present.
Release of the Journal viz., An International Multidisciplinary half yearly research journal, Peer reviewed referred and UGC listed journal with impact factor 4.361 at the hands of the dignitaries.
In all we received 125 research papers from all over India and abroad from various discipline of Academia and Industry.
There was a special session for the foreign delegates wherein they discussed various Perspectives on Innovation in Trade Practices across the globe, viz., Sri Lanka, Gambia, Afghanistan, Dominic Republic of Congo and Iran.

Organized an Experts talk on “PYTHON” for the students of TY BBA(CA) by SEED InfoTech Ltd. On 14th December 2017 at M6 Class Coordinated by Ms Shabana Mulla.

Felicitation of the guest speaker is done by Ms. Shabana Mulla and Mr. Faheemuddin Ahmed.
The Speaker Mr. Pradip Kakade, Software Matter Expert (SEED Infotech Ltd.) has taken hand on practical implementation of Phyton. Python is a new technology and concept for our students as it is not includeded in the syllabus. So students were enjoyed the lecture.
He has taken different examples of different kind of programming for the students.
Also Mr. Pradip Kakade share his case studies and study material with the students.
The points which guest speaker covered were so interesting that it has opened student’s eyes as well as minds. Students were appreciated the way he covered each and every topic in detail and also cleared student’s doubts on the same.
At last Students also presents their feedback about the lectures and also demand for second session with other technology in future.

Guest lecture “Understanding GST.”
For acquaintance of Business scenario to BBA Students, a Guest lecture was organised by Asst Prof Aqueel Bajajwala on 19/9/2017 at Hall no 1 PIMSE BLDG at 9.00 am. The topic for the lecture was “Understanding GST.” The lecture was delivered by Eminent Chartered Accountant Prof Mahesh Atre.
He explained about the indirect taxes which were levied prior to GST and how GST came into existence on 1.7.17. He also explained about various advantages and disadvantages in implementing the GST.
42 students attended the lecture and got benefited by the knowledge imparted by Prof Atre. At the end Question Answer session was conducted, students asked their queries which were answered by Prof Atre.
The session ended with vote of thanks proposed by Mr Aqueel Bajajwala.

Expert Talk on “COMPANY AUDITOR”

AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science &Commerce, Department of Commerce had organized anexpert talk on COMPANY AUDITOR.for the students of Third Year B.Com.
Prof.Wafiya Wahid coordinated the program.
The Speaker for the lecture was C.A.SakinaKanchwala , who is a practising Chartered Accountant in Pune. She is being practising for the past seven years.
Dr. Abbas LokhandwalaSenior Professor, Department of Commerce Introduced the Guest Speaker C.A.SakinaKanchwala and welcomed all the students to the lecture.
In her lecture C.A.SakinaKanchwaladiscussed about the various duties of Company Auditor She also discussed about Auditor’s qualification, disqualifications, rights and liabilities.
She discussed about how auditor is appointed and he has been removed.She delivered a lecture by giving real life examples which will help the students to understand the Company Auditor topic in depth. Her lecture will help the students in doing their practical assignment which is part of their syllabus .Around 100 students were the beneficiaries of this lecture.

The teacher’s day celebrated on 9th September, 2017 by the students of SYBBA(CA) at Y&M Aki’s Poona College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The program was hosted by Ms. Faiza Shaikh and Ms Almas Dilir. It was a very exciting day for the students. All the students who were going to perform on that day for the teachers were all fully geared up. There was cake cutting ceremony, funny games, speeches and so many activities. There were great food to eat; such as Noodles, Cold Drinks, Cake, etc.

The birth date of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated asTeacher's Day since 1962. On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance.
Cake cutting ceremony did by all the teachers of BBA and BBA(CA) and B.Com with the presence of Honorable Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. Principal sir gave motivational speech to students about their career and future. Also they told the students their social responsibility towards society. Students participated in this event enthusiastically.

Teachers Day Celebration By TYBBA(CA) Students
‘A TEACHER presents the past, reveals the present, and creates the future’.
Teachers Day at POONA COLLEGE was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm on 7th sept, 2017.The program was hosted by Master Uzair Shaikh .The day had an emotional and recreational touch.two speeches were given by Miss Ayesha Khan and Miss Raksha Shetty.The students did all the preparations with complete energy and excitement .The Principal Mr Aftab Anwar was felicitated by Prof Faheem. The girls of the college were given the honour to felicitate the teachers and the staff.There was a challenging game part in front of the teachers –‘Kaun Banega Intellectual Teacher of the Day’.The Intellectual Teacher was backed by Prof Akbar Sayyed.The teachers were overwhelmed and excited .Cake cutting was done by Principal and the refreshments were done by Principal and the refreshments were served to all.
Whole heartedly Master Uzair Shaikh thanked the teachers for their dedicated and tireless service to the students.

Orientation Programme of BBA & BBA(CA) FY students , on 22nd July 2017 in PIMSE seminar Hall

Y&M AKI's Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune organised and conducted an Orientation Programme of BBA & BBA(CA) FY students today, on 22nd July 2017 in PIMSE seminar Hall at 9 am.
Chief Guest Hon. Prof. M.S. Pillai, Director, SCMLD graced the occasion and gave a very enlightening address to the audience.
He insisted on Specificity of one's goals and achievement of the same with hard work and perseverance.
Hon. Principal, Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh graced the occasion with his presence and gave his presidential address.
Ms. JahanAara Pathan compered the programme.

Ms. Shabana Mulla introduced the Chief Guest,

A guest lecture on Startups was organised on 14th July 2016 for all the BBA students by Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. Indian Muslim Entrepreneurship Forum (IMEF)’s Mr. Tausif Malik was the key speaker who also happens to be our alumni. Mr. Malik is the founder of IMEF and has worked a lot towards the betterment of Muslim community and the society as a whole.
Mr. Tausif Malik went on to address the audience the aspects of startups and how one should be reviving one’s skills to keep on upgrading oneself.
Knowledge is the key. He went on saying that if one needs to grow, then one needs to keep on learning and acquiring knowledge. Mr. Malik said that there are many ideas that click, however, we should have that confidence and belief in our own ideas. Market out one’s skills and let them know what we are.
Mr. Malik also said that self-confidence and perseverance are the key to sustain with one’s sustainability.
Also there was another member, Mr. Mohammad Anas Qureshi, founder of Anas Classes. Mr. Qureshi went on to speak about soft skills and Personality development sessions all over India. He also said that his classes also provide scholarships for education overseas.
Mr. Qureshi is also a keen social worker, who’s into funding the treatment of patients with terminal illness via Zakat.
Mr. Qureshi expressed what all hurdles he had to experience during all those years of hardships. He also stressed on the startups as the employment market is grim now-a-days.
Overall it was an enriching session for all the aspiring students.
