Durva, Udgam Incubation Center, NSS, NCC, Cleanliness Committee and Department of Sociology, organised an awareness event on Environmental Sustainability on 6th November 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM at the Udgam Incubation Center of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College for women, Punjabi Bagh (West).

Our guest speaker Mr Vineet Vohra of Give Me Trees Trust, had a thought provoking and encouraging dialogue with our students and teachers on the ways of conserving nature and getting benefitted by it too.

Udgam, Durva, Cleanliness Committee and NSS of SPMC organised A Program on Waste Innovation and Sustainability under it's 'Let's Do It Youth' Sustainable Development Based Initiative in collaboration with Let's Do It India Foundation on 18th October 2024, 11:30 AM at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium.
Prof Pankaj Chaudhary, Founder of Let's Do It India Foundation and Mr Jatin Sindhi, MD &VP of Faction AI Smart City Operations India, graced the occasion with their presence and inspiring talks.

Durva: Eco-club of SPMC , Department of Environmental Studies, Department of Computer science and the Garden Committee of SPMC, celebrated Hariyali Diwas and conducted a Plantation Drive on 14th of August 2024.

The program was facilitated by our Principal Prof Sadhna Sharma ma'am, and all the faculty of SPMC, Eco Club, EVS Deptt, Computer science Deptt and the Garden Committee.

Plantation Drive included planting of saplings on the college campus and distribution of more than a thousand saplings to the faculty and students of SPMC.

The celebration of Hariyali Diwas included several competitions such as rangoli making, mehndi competition, and bottle painting competition along the themes of conservation of Nature. It also included dance performances by our students under the theme of unity in diversity.

The program was very well planned and executed. Congratulations to the whole team of Durva for such a smooth and efficient finish of the event.

SPMC was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for its efforts on waste segregation, treatment and recycling, by the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) on 26th July 2024, at Satya Sai International centre New Delhi.
We received five certificates of appreciation for the college, principal ma'am and three faculty members.

We extend our sincere gratitude towards our principal Prof Sadhna Sharma, for going ahead with the idea and providing all the support for this project, Prof Meenu Aggarwal mam and Dr Anita Kumari ma'am for making this project a success. Congratulations to the whole team of Durva .

Durva and the Department of Environmental Studies launched the 3rd edition of their magazine Ecosphere, on 9th May 2024.
The magazine was launched in the esteemed presence of Prof Chirashree Ghosh, University of Delhi and the faculty and students of SPMC.
The event also led to the valedictory sessions, where all the achievers and members of Durva were felicitated. Some of the glimpses of the event are here.

Durva has successfully been able to make use of its compost bin installed about 6 months ago on the college campus. We have been able to compost our kitchen waste from the canteen, and produce about 110 kg of organic manure. We presented the first batch to our Principal Prof Sadhna Sharma ma'am today, who enabled the sanctioning of the compost bin by the Govt of Delhi.
Thanks are due to the Convenor Prof Meenu Aggarwal ma'am, Co-convenor Dr Anita Kumari, our team members Dr Sonal Bhatnagar , Dr Sanyogita Singh, Dr Nazia Talat, Dr Shivesh Berwal, Dr Vijay, Ms Sonika Geroh and Dr Ankur for regularly monitoring the bins.
