On the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi, along with the vibrant Nagar Kirtan and Kisan Mela at Eternal University, Baru Sahib, the entire atmosphere was filled with devotion, gratitude, and divine blessings.

Vaisakhi, symbolizing prosperity, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening, inspired everyone to embrace the timeless values of seva (selfless service), unity, and compassion. With the blessings and guidance of revered saints, the celebration served as a powerful reminder of our responsibility to serve humanity with humility and dedication.

In this spirit, Akal College of Nursing, Baru Sahib proudly organized a First Aid Counter during the Kisan Mela to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors. Students of Akal College of Nursing were demonstrated the correct technique of administering an intramuscular injection using the ventrogluteal (V-shape) site—widely regarded as the safest site due to the absence of major nerves and blood vessels.

🩺 Key Highlights of the Demonstration:
✔️ Accurate identification of anatomical landmarks using the V-shape method (index and middle fingers)
✔️ Proper site selection to ensure patient safety
✔️ Strict adherence to aseptic technique
✔️ Correct needle insertion at a 90° angle
✔️ Safe and effective medication administration

Ms. Vindhya Thakur, Assistant Professor, Akal College of Nursing, conducted a lively hands-on skill demonstration for mothers, with active participation from nursing students as part of their clinical training.

The session focused on educating patients and their attendants about the importance of burping the baby after each feeding to prevent discomfort, regurgitation, and abdominal distension.

✨ Demonstrated Techniques Included:
✔️ Holding the baby upright against the shoulder with gentle patting on the back
✔️ Sitting position on the lap with proper chin support and gentle back patting
✔️ Face-down position across the caregiver’s lap with gentle rubbing/patting

Mothers and attendants actively engaged in the session, verbalized their understanding, and were encouraged to practice the techniques under supervision—ensuring confidence and competence in newborn care.
