The Boys' Badminton Team secured the Runner-Up position in the GTU Badminton Zonal Tournament 2026.

The Girls' Badminton Team also secured the Runner-Up position in the GTU Badminton Zonal Tournament 2026.

🏐🏆 VOLLEYBALL — ZONAL CHAMPIONS
The Volleyball Team emerged GTU Zonal Champions 2026, continuing the proud 7-year legacy of excellence in volleyball at GEC Rajkot.

With exceptional skill, teamwork, discipline, determination, and true sportsmanship, our players fought with great spirit throughout the tournament and proudly represented GEC Rajkot under sincere appreciation of Manager, Uttam Bhuva Sir, for his constant guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the tournaments, and to Principal, Prof. (Dr.) K. G. Maradiya Sir, for his valuable support, motivation, and encouragement. Their guidance has played an important role in the continued success of GEC Rajkot's sporting journey.

The SSIP 2.0 Sensitization program was organized by the Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) Cell of the Electronics & Communication Department at Government Engineering College, Rajkot on 18th August 2026. Coordinated by Prof. P. R. Pandya under the guidance of Prof. N. B. Gohil and Prof. S. B. Parmar.

The session aimed to familiarize students with the SSIP 2.0 scheme, its benefits, and the process of implementing SSIP-based projects. A total of 110 first-semester EC students actively participated in the one-hour program held at Venue B001. The webinar covered the introduction of SSIP 2.0, steps for project implementation, and the opportunities available under the scheme. As an outcome, students gained a clear understanding of the SSIP framework and are now better prepared to take up innovation-driven projects. The event successfully encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurial thinking and highlighted the institution’s commitment to nurturing innovation.

The Department of Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Government Engineering College, Rajkot, successfully organized an SSIP 2.0 Sensitization Program on 13 August 2026 for newly entered students of 1st Semester.

Prof. N. B. Gohil, SSIP Coordinator, delivered the introductory speech and provided students with an overview of SSIP 2.0, its objectives, funding opportunities, and various opportunities for innovation and start-up activities. Prof. U. V. Shah, Head of the Department, further motivated the students and encouraged them to actively participate in innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up initiatives. Event was coordinated by Prof. R. K. Shukla.

The Electrical Engineering Department Government Engineering College, Rajkot, successfully organized an SSIP 2.0 Sensitization Program on 13 August 2026.

Dr Hitesh M Karkar introduced students to SSIP 2.0, its objectives, funding opportunities, and ways students can participate in innovation and startup activities. Head of Departent Electrical Prof Kiritsinh Rathod shared his entrepreneurial views and motivated students to explore innovation, SSIP PoC hackathons, and startup opportunities.
A total of 49 students participated (first year and D2D). The session inspired students to transform their ideas into innovative projects and future startups.

Various competitions, including Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, and Poster Making, were organized at Government Engineering College, Rajkot (GEC Rajkot) on 14th August 2026 by the NSS Cell and General Department. The event was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) K. G. Maradia and coordinated by Prof. S. H. Karkar and Prof. D. J. Marsonia.

The theme of the event was “સ્વચ્છતા અભિયાન” (Cleanliness Campaign). The competitions aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and their responsibility towards building a clean and hygienic India.

More than 100 students actively participated in the competitions and enthusiastically expressed their views, ideas, and creativity through essays, slogans, and posters.Overall, the event was successfully conducted with active participation and great enthusiasm, reinforcing the message of “સ્વચ્છતા અભિયાન” and inspiring students to make cleanliness and hygiene an integral part of their daily lives.

In celebration of the historic milestone "25 Varsh Vikash Gatha - Karmayogi Sevana 25 Varsh", Government Engineering College, Rajkot successfully organized a massive campus-wide Cleanliness Drive on August 13, 2026. Under the leadership of Principal Shree K.G. Maradiya, Prof. R.N.Chovatiya, all head of department, institute housekeeping coordinator Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Raval and our dedicated Departmental Housekeeping Coordinators, the entire GECR family stepped forward to champion the true spirit of selfless public service. The drive witnessed an overwhelming response and mass mobilization as all faculty members from every engineering department came together to lead by example. The true energy of the event came from our incredible student community, with around 200 enthusiastic students rolling up their sleeves to deep-clean classrooms, laboratories, administrative areas, and campus corridors. Simultaneously, our dedicated hostel residents and staff members joined forces to transform the residential wings, ensuring the rooms, dining facilities, and surrounding premises were thoroughly sanitized. This joint effort has beautifully transformed our campus into a healthier, greener, and more vibrant space to learn and grow. A massive thank you to every faculty member, staff, and student who contributed to making this institutional drive a grand success—let’s continue to maintain this standard of excellence and keep our campus shining.

80th Independence Day Celebration at GEC,Rajkot
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Government Engineering College, Rajkot, under the joint coordination of the Cultural Committee, NSS, NCC Committee and guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) K. G. Maradia

Celebration began with flag hoisting ceremony by Principal Prof.(Dr.) K. G. Maradia in the presence of invited guests Shri B. B. Agola Sir and Shri G. B. Pithva Sir followed by NCC Parade. The programme reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity, and national pride among students and faculty members.

The event featured a variety of student performances, showcasing their talent and expressing their love for the nation through cultural presentations. The performances created an inspiring and celebratory atmosphere on the campus.

As part of the programme, certificates were distributed to students and participants in recognition of their achievements and active involvement in various activities like GTU Toppers, Wearing Helmet, Riding Cycle, Library reading, Media activity and paper publication at ISRO.The ceremony encouraged students to continue participating in academic, cultural, social, and co-curricular activities.
The celebration also included a tree plantation programme, organized by NSS cell of institute to promote environmental awareness and the responsibility of students towards protecting nature. Faculty members, guests, NSS & NCC Volunteers and students actively participated in the plantation drive.
The 80th Independence Day celebration concluded with a strong message of patriotism, environmental responsibility, teamwork, and active citizenship, making the occasion memorable for everyone present.

The Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering, Government Engineering College, Rajkot, successfully organized an SSIP 2.0 Sensitization Program on 13 August 2026.

Prof. N. B. Gohil Sir introduced students to SSIP 2.0, its objectives, funding opportunities, and ways students can participate in innovation and startup activities. Our alumnus Mr. Miraj Vasani, a startup founder, shared his entrepreneurial journey and motivated students to explore innovation, hackathons, and startup opportunities.
A total of 71 students participated (42 from 1st Semester, 5 from 3rd Semester, and 24 from 5th Semester). The session inspired students to transform their ideas into innovative projects and future startups.
