22nd Foundation Day of BGSBU

While celebrating the 22nd Foundation, Department of Zoology today on (12-12-2025) organised multiple events among the students to celebrate the Foundation Day.

In today's first event at 11.00AM, all the students of BSc & MSc classes took a healthy hiking trail to PirPanjal Biodiversity Park(PPBP) capturing the pristine flora and fauna of PPBP.

In second event at 3 PM, students enthusiastically participated in 'Quiz competition' on "Biodiversity, its conservation & threats".

While concluding the day first event, Head Department of Zoology Dr. AA Shah appreciated all the students for actively participating in different events and showcasing their talent.

Congratulations to Zahid Hussain now Dr. Zahid Hussain for successfully defending his PhD viva voce. He was registered for his PhD programme in 2019 on the topic 'Morphological & Molecular Study of the caddisfly Families Lepidostomatidae & Philopotamidae of North West Himalaya" under the joint supervision of Dr. Sajad H.Parey of Dept of Zoology & Dr. MS Pandher at Zoological Survey of India, Solan.
During his research programme Dr. Zahid published his research work in reputed International & national Journals like Zootaxa published by Magnolia Press New Zealand; Oriental Insects published by Taylor & Francis USA; Contributions to Entomology published by Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut (SDEI), Germany; Indian Journal of Entomology & Records of Zoological Survey of India.
Dr. Zahid published one authored book entitled "Lepidostomatidae of India" with CRC Press, UK. In addition he published many book chapters related to the field of Entomology.
We wish him best of luck for his future endeavors.
