📸 AICTE-VAANI Seminar 2026 | Inaugural Glimpses 🚀

The AICTE-VAANI sponsored 2-day seminar on "Artificial Intelligence & Its Dimension" (in Odia Language) commenced on a high note at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, BIT Mesra!

The event started with a welcome address by Seminar Coordinator Dr. Suvendu Kanungo and Co-Coordinator Dr. Kishore Kumar Senapati (Dept. of CSE, BIT Mesra), who introduced the theme and objectives of the seminar.

This was followed by an address from Prof. Abhijit Mustafi, Head of the Department of CSE, BIT Mesra, highlighting the importance of advancing technical learning in regional languages.

The audience was then addressed by our esteemed Chief Guest, Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan (Ex DG), who shared his perspectives on emerging technology trends.

We were also privileged to have Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Sa, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, who shared his thoughts, academic experiences, and interacted with the gathering.

We are delighted to congratulate Nitish Kumar, Researcher in the Department of Remote Sensing and Geoinformaticsat Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, on receiving the prestigious Young Scientist Award (YSA) at URSI GASS 2026in Kraków, Poland! 🌍🎉

His award-winning paper, “Ejecta Characterization of an Icy Crater Using Chandrayaan-2 Dual-Frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar,” focuses on the application of dual-frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observations and advanced polarimetric parameters to analyze icy-crater ejecta situated in the Moon's south polar region.

This significant work was developed under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr. V. S. Rathore and Co-Principal Investigator Dr. A. P. Krishna through the Chandrayaan-2 research programme. It also underscores a valuable international partnership with Dr. Ajeet Kumar (RaSS Lab, CNIT, Italy) in cutting-edge radar remote sensing.

The Student Induction Programme · MO-2026 commenced today at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, marking the beginning of a new chapter for our incoming students.

The inaugural session at G. P. Birla Auditorium brought together students, parents, faculty members and the Institute leadership, including Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Rajesh Jain, Registrar, BIT Mesra.

The programme featured the address by the Vice Chancellor, followed by an engaging interaction with students and parents, setting the tone for the sixteen-day induction programme focused on values, learning, meaningful connections and a strong foundation for the journey ahead.
