o the beginning when Shri. Vikram Mahajan, the former Coal Minister of India suggested to the DAV Management to venture into education in coalfields area. The DAV management sends a committee, comprising Principal Tirloki Nath, Principal Mohan Lal, the late Darbari Lal and Principal T. Gupta to explore the possibility of opening schools in the coalfield region of Bihar and U.P. On the committee's recommendation the Movement was herald in the coalfields with four schools, which were opened under Shri N. Groverji's exceptional guidance in 1982. Each step forward for the rise in the education of students of urban and remote areas has been marked by the presence of more than ten thousand employees and torch bearers in this zone that includes statesman, scientist, philanthropist, legal luminary and people of unparallel merit. With the blessings & guidance of the DAV College Managing Committee, the Ranchi Zone has grown from 4 schools in 1982 to 84 in 2009
